If God is all-knowing and omnipotent, why would he instruct Adam & Eve to not eat of the Tree of the Fruit of Life, if He (or She) knew they would eat anyway (thus creating sin). It seems a bit of a contradiction to me. If God had the power to keep sin out of the world, why would he offer it up for the taking?

He did this because no one back then had the inclination to figure out that this was a stupid problem.

It's hard to make up stories that will survive philosophical and scientific tests for three thousand years.

That's a huge problem with the creation story, that God would create people, give them the opportunity to sin, and then punish all people for the rest of time because of it. If God created everything, including the devil, then he created evil. Free will doesn't explain why God would allow sin to be in the world and then burn most of his created people. Why can he test people, but people can't test him?

The question indicates a lack of understanding regarding what God wants.
Yes, he could have made Adam a robot so that he would instinctively obey God.
"Wow! I can make a robot do this."
How much greater to have people voluntarily, willingly, happily accept God's instructions ....even when they have a choice.
Like Jesus.
He didn't have to die. He accepted that role out of love for his heavenly father. Now that's a 'WOW!'
God wanted to give Adam an occasion to demonstrate his willing, happy co-operation.
Adam's selfishness won the day.
So, now we're with Plan 'B'.

Because he loved us enough to give us a choice. If there is no evil then we have to free will. He loves us enough to let us choose.

I'm sorry, I don't know and I don't need to know. He has already proved himself to me.
