it as an email attachment to anyone and will they still be able to open it even though it is typed on Open Office as it doesnt look like a normal attachment when you look at it on the email and the computer is a Vista so only has Microsoft Works on it and Works wouldnt do it when I tried it?

Yes you can do this. First type your document then go to file>send>e-mail as word document which should bring up your email programme with the document as an attachment you can also send it as a pdf file or openoffice document. if the recipient hasn't got openoffice installed, choose either to send it as a pdf or word doc.

To connect open office to your email programme go to tools>options>internet>email then you can choose the email programme to open when you send a file directly from openoffice via email.

You need to use the save as facility. put the file name in the file name box and below it is a save as type box with a drop down menu. You need to select an appropriate Microsoft option.

You may also try the rich text format or HTML as a sort of catch all., but generally you should find that a Microsoft option should work..

You must select Send it as an attachment !

just copy and paste into your email and it will open as an email, unless you attach it as a file.
if someone doesnt have the program, it won't open
