He's a four month old chihuahua and we have two younger kittens. He's constantly bothering them. I think he's just playing, but he's too rough. He also takes other items and tries to destroy them and sometimes he'll bite at me if I try to stop him.

Catch him IN THE MIDDLE OF BAD BEHAVIOR, go "Ah-ah" or "Na-ah" or something else short (not his name) and as soon as he stops give him TREATS AND PRAISE and say "Good boy." Try to catch him every time.

As for the biting, he's small, so when he goes to nip, you need to grab his snout, hold it shut and go "ah-ah" etc.

Dogs have the reasoning abilities of a 2 year old child, no matter how old. They also have a very short association memory, so bringing him a broken toy and saying "Bad boy!" will do nothing.

Put the chihuahua in a room with the kittens. When the chihuahua starts to get rough with the kittens, then say Ah Ah! When he doesn't bother the kittens, then give him a treat. Show him that bothering the kittens is a bad thing, but don't result in violence.
With his toy, when he starts to destroy them, then say a distracting word like BOP! Keep on doing this until he stops his bad behavior. If this doesn't work try the same with two pots, and when he starts to destroy his toys then hit the pans or pots together. Good luck!

He's a puppy and he wants to play. Puppies play rough. If he does something you don't want him to do (like bites the kittes or knocks them down) stop him right in the moment and remove him from the area. He will eventually learn what not to do.

Don't let him bite at you at all. Tell him "no" in a stern voice and grab him by the back of the neck (firmly, but don't hurt him) and lay him down on his back with his belly exposed. This is how dogs are submissive with each other, and it will teach him to respect you. If he is biting you he is either playing (you still need to teach him not to bite, even if its playful) or he doesn't respect you and he is telling you not to bother him - and that is absolutely not okay. Dogs that do that now are going to be aggressive if you don't stop it.

I got a kitten and my 7 month old puppy keeps going after him. We started by tethering the dog so that he couldn't chase the kitten. We took a leash, looped to one of the legs of the couch and he would get tied down if he ran after the kitten. Also, we trained with treats. He could play with the kitten, but if he started getting rough we would call him over to us and have him sit. If he did this, he would get a treat...if we had to go pull him away from the kitten, we would say "Time Out" and lock him in the kitchen for a few minutes. He got the idea...Now they play together, but he will come to us if we call him and leave the kitten alone.

as soon as you catch him being bad tell him no! in a stern voice. also use the surprise factor get a spray bottle and give him a squrit that might work. As far as the biting goes even if he acts like he is going to bite find something that tastes icky and give him a good dose. also say no again he is still young so don't give up.
I too have a chihuahua who is now going to be a year in Aug.
and she is also going through the same stage but thankfully she is doing better.
Good luck, just remember don't give up.

Your dog thinks he's top dog and that's why he's trying to bite you. If you establish your position as top dog then he will HAVE to listen to you ebcause that's the dog's system in socialization. His growling problem will be gone ( & I really garentee it) i cant spell that.
