baby oil will not prevent ticks, it doesn't prevent lice either, just makes it harder for them to attach.
I suggest a good repellant is what you need. Wear long sleeves and long pants if you know you will be in a tick environment, like long grass etc.

I come from the Minnesota/Canadian border where the summers last a few months if your lucky. The ticks can carry a child away if mom turns her back.
Some summers we've had to tape our pants legs down and shirt sleeves. Some guys didn't know what there new brides even looked like under those flannel shirts and bibby coveralls. It's the only protection they've had up there until Deet came out
Now simply spray your openings in your clothes and you can enjoy the summers, however short they are.
Baby oil can make your skin soft, ease a rash but, stopping ticks, I don't think so, they'd just slide in quicker.

Baby oil does NOT prevent lice, ticks or anything else, as far as that goes. You have to be very careful when on a farm. Ticks are something you want to avoid.

Avon's Skin so Soft has a line of skin products that for some reason help prevent flea, tick, knats and mosquittos. It's better to use this or Cactus Juice (if you can find it) to prevent this problem as it contains no Deet which is very harmful.

Try some bug spray specific for ticks. Spray it around your ankles to keep them from climbing aboard.
There is a new brand of dog flea and tick spray that is made from peppermint and lemon oil. It is not harmful to humans or animals. You may want to check out the pet aisle at your grocery store.

I have never heard of that! Your best bet is use something with a repellant - like Avon Skin So Soft - and to do nightly tick checks from head to toe.

No that will only make the farm dust stick to you. You could buy one of those tick dog collars and fit it on the rim of your shoes LOL
