Dogs take benadryl all the time. And the second poster was correct on the dosage, one mg per pound. They can actually take it up to once every four hours if a severe need arises. Vets prescribe it often.
There might be better sleeping potions available by prescription from your vet though, if that is what you want the benadryl to do. You might even consider melatonin. It is very safe.

You can give dogs Benadryl (the dye free variety) but why give here Benadryl if she isn't having an alergic reaction? What you want is a sedative and you need to talk to your vet about that. A BIG mistake you can make is assuming that drugs are going to have the same reaction in your dog as they have in you (in this case sleepyness) not even all PEOPLE react the same way to Benadryl, it can make some people agitated and jumpy like too much coffee. So get something from the vet or on recamendation of the vet that is INTENDED for the use you are putting it to!

Normaly you just give a dog Benadryl for an allergy. And you would have to give a childs, cut into about 1/4 of a tablet.

The standard dose of Benadryl for dogs is 1mg per pound of body weight, up to three times a day. Each of the pink tablets is 25mg, so I would think you'd be safe giving her one about 30 minutes before boarding.
I give my pug/beagle mix 1/2 tab three times a day for his allergies and he does just fine. It hardly affects him at all though, so if you're looking for something to make your dog drowsy you might want to try something like Happy Traveler, which is an herbal remedy easily available at most pet stores.

i don't see why not. I had a rottie and when she was 4 months(and getting her series of puppy shots) she was allergic to one of the shots and her eyes swelled up all the way. I took her to the vet, they gave her a shot of cordizone and some benadryl. I asked if this was the same kind that people take and she said yes...that it's fine for dogs as well. .....i just wish i knew that before spending the 300$ at the vet......

Check with your vet. We gave our 25 lb beagle Benadryl for her motion sickness while driving, but I don't know if it would do anything for airplane travel. We actually gave her one dye-free pill about 30 mins before the car trip. It didn't make her sleepy at all, but she didn't vomit.

I could surely name your vet first. But I could say with their age, that no you will have to no longer supply them the medication. They are younger ample that they are going to modify within the auto. Keep taking them for brief drives when you've got time. We uncover that with our cats, they prefer the air on and no tune. Keeps them calmer. And if we allow them to out and preserve them that is helping too or no less than contact them by way of the service to allow them to recognise that you're nonetheless there. Good good fortune.

I wouldn't recommend giving her benadryl. I would recommend you give her dramamine. It wouldn't risk you the same side effects and would work probably a lot better.
