In the bible God says to the Israelites not to marry anyone out their race(something similar to that). So would that mean it would be wrong for a Nigerian man who is a christian to marry a woman who is a christian but is not a Nigerian?

The New Testament says we are not to be unequally yoked with non believers, so it is ok for Christians to marry people of other races- it's just not ok to marry unbelievers or people of the same gender.

That's wrong.

The Bible says not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). The Bible says nothing about race.

Now that we established your premise is wrong to answer your question, there is nothing wrong with a Nigerian Christian man marrying a woman of another culture and/or race who is also a Christian.

The reason God told them this was because of the different beliefs other nationalities had. But there are multiple places in the Old Testament that had people of other nationalities that came to faith in the true God and were accepted in and were allowed to marry Israelites.

For example, Rahab the harlot from Jericho. She is in the lineage of Christ. Can't really get any more accepted than that.

After Christ's death on the cross and resurrection, the race/nationality thing isn't mentioned. It just says not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. This just means not to marry unbelievers, so it is the same thing as before - based on beliefs.

Well the Old Testament rules are not followed to the letter. I do have examples but I can't be bothered to list all the scriptural references so you'll just have to take my word for it and believe that it is ok to marry a christian who is not nigerian.

No, it's a warning not marry anyone with a different faith to yours, time after time the Israelites married the people around them who pulled them away from worhshipping the one true God and encouraged them to worship false Gods. The same can happen today, and God wants to protect His people from that. I know christians who are married to non-believers and that can be very challenging.

No it would be great =] We are not to marry anyone who isn't a Christian but it doesnt matter what race. Remember Christ will be praised by all nations, tribes and tongues so i dont think its a problem. So, if the 2 people are in love and feel that God blesses their union and is calling them to marry then i see no problem.
Yours in Christ..

It was really more about marrying outside of your religion. Many people in the bible married people of other races. Joseph (the guy with the coat), for example, married an Egyptian woman, after she converted to Judaism.

Of course it wouldn't be wrong. In my opinion it wouldn't be wrong even if you were a different religion, but especially if you're both Christian. Two people of a different race but same religion can get married with no problems in any church. In my opinion, all you need is love and understanding:)

Israelites generally aren't Christians. Maybe the rule only applies to Jewish people lol. I think the rule truly only applies if your thinking is as archaic as the "authors" of the Bible.

Not nesarily. That is the old testimenent and although it is part of the bible, much of the laws lade down by the old testiment were no longer needed like the lamb sacrifice when Jesus died for our sins.

Although if you still have questions, I suggest asking them to a pastor or possibly a group of christian people to discuss.
