I was thinking of joining an athletics club to improve but how does it work? Are you taught with other people?Because i don't want to look crap in front of people. Are you like trained by a coach individually?

It depends on the type of Athletics Club you are referring to.
The question is a little confusing because some people call Track & Field / Athletics. And some people call Athletics Clubs / Health Clubs or Gyms.
If you are reffering to the later than it would depend on the type, some are done only with a personal trainer one-on-one and there are others where you have to hire a personal trainer, or train on your own. If you train on your own usually they will have an orientation to teach all the machines and show you around.
If you want you could also get a trainer just for the first time or two times to make sure you know how to work everything and your form and technique is good.

In the club I belong to you can join several free classes--mainly aerobics or pilates. You can also get an individual counselor, but that has a cost. On a treadmill nobody will know if you are really slow or really fast.
