Oh, I used to think anyone only looked good tan. Then skin cancer happened.
To much sun or tanning produces to many UV UVB rays to our skin (burns) - it also ages you - prematurely and I once thought I was invincible too -
You can get great tans safely a little very day with an spf
or great creams
spray on tans.

A tan can look good if you don't over do it. It is hard on the skin---it ages the skin. It causes it to dry out and wrinkle. If you're going to tan (I do), the best thing to do is when you get into the sun or a tanning bed, don't go numerous times in a row. Wait and let everything soak in and it your skin won't be as dry; however, a tan will damage skin, more or less.

It causes the elasticity (which decreases with age) to disappear more quickly, so that skin sags or wrinkles at an earlier age than it would have. Check out a tan 40-year-old in a two-piece, or a fisherman's face.
It promotes lines on areas with little fat--the forehead, the throat, above the upper lip, to the side of the eyes.
It causes long-term skin damage--all kinds of spots, tags, growths, etc. which are unsightly even if harmless.
The biggie is there's a direct causal link to skin cancer. You won't look so hot with a nice big skin graft across the bridge of your nose, although the host site (usually your butt) won't show often.

Read that article. If you don't feel like it--basically, there are UVA rays (aging rays) and UVB rays (burning rays). It depends where and how you tan, but the burning causes, well, burning, which is bad for your skin, and the aging causes you to look old because the skin is drying out and wrinkling.
I enjoy being pale.

Too much sun causes skin cancer when you get older, even if you tan a lot when you are young.
