My friend uses terms of endearment and calls me "babe", "dear", "honeybear" et al especially when we are having a good time. Do you think he might be hiniting for something more or should I just carry on? I also call him "sweetness" once in a while but he also knows I call everyone that. He's in the 30's and I'm in my 20's.

You're an adult, you don't have the guts to ask him?

I think it depends on more on how he acts in addition those terms. Lot ofs people use those terms for all those of the opposite gender - or at least those that they are close too. Especially they are from the south!

I have quite a few friends who call me sweetie or babe and I am a happily married woman and they are happily married men.

If you have an interest in this guy suck it up and bring it to his attention. Otherwise let the idea go that he's into you.

This is kind of difficult. I know people that are 30+ who use those terms oh so freely but they have no meaning behind them. I have also come across some that use those terms because they have an interest in the other person.

The best advice for this situation is to ask him. Communication is a key ingredient in any type of relationship and if those terms are meant to signify more than you would have tested your ability and willingness to communicate openly.

Good luck.

That is a hard one to answer. I have met men that only use words like those for women they are attracted to or wish to pursue. I have also met men that call all women that, or have special pet names for specific women. When I was a waitress during college...a gentleman a few years older then I used to call me *baby doll.* I at first thought he liked me, but as I got to know him more, I found that he had pet names for all the women in his life. Still made me feel special...just like ..that special.

I would look for maybe other sighs that he may be into you. Excessive physical (positive of course) contact. Flirty looks...ya know what I am talking about. I hope this helps and I wish you luck.

Alot of people call their sweeties by all kinds of nicknames. I really don't think he is hinting at anything at all. Just cute names he likes to call you.
