NO SCRATCHING!! try rubbing lubriderm (or whatever moisturizer you are using) very lightly, this helps temporarily, but the itching is natural. you just gotta wait it out.

I found the A&D ointment really helped with the itching. Washing it a few times a day then putting a clear layer on stopped the itch for me. I don't know about these people, but smacking it wasn't an option for me.....it was already pretty sore lol.

I am not a big fan of slapping, either - in fact, many say it makes it worse. Tapping or patting lightly is okay.

Gently rub in some more aftercare product. If it itches worse, switch up to something different.

Try rubbing an ice cube over it - ice packs seem to take too long.

You cant, lol. Its all a part of the healing process. However, my artist recommended Lubriderm with Sea Kelp in it. So when my tat would start to itch I was slathering on the lotion, it helped SO much.

Edited to say... Please dont even slap it! That tattoo area is very sensitive, and that will cause pain to an already sore area! Just use the lotion I recommended and lightly massage it in, that will help, I promise.

Rub it with lotion, cocoa butter, maybe even hydra cortisone. I also found that washing it in a warm shower helped give temporary relief. Rubbing the antibiotic ointment on also helped.

you can't. I'm trying to find a way to stop scratching mine when i'm deeply asleep but i guess i'll have to wear a thin jacket when i sleep to so i'll be scratching the jacket instead of my tattoo. haha.

Slap it. DON'T SCRATCH IT!

The itching means it's healing. You can put more lotion on it, but you really don't want to scratch it at all.
