In adobe photoshop how do you fade a picture of someone into a background picture?

I am trying to cookie cut someones face out of a picture and then fade the picture into a background of clouds. The problems I am running into are: when I cut out the face it is a littlw choppy (squared off) and then I do not know how to fade the picture of the person into the background picture so it all looks smooth together. Any advice?

When the face layer is pasted over the background, apply the Soft Light blend to the face layer adjusting the opacity so that the layers somewhat mix together. If the face is too dark apply a layer style like the Inner Glow (center) and if the face borders need to be softened use the blur or the smudge tool.
