We are saying none of it makes any sense if you aren't mind programmed, it is so illogical and superstitious that we have to reject as nonsense. Only a programmed mind without much critical analysis could believe in that fantasy.

The Bible was written by and for people who accept Plato's Idealism and Aristotle's Solipsism. St. Augustine used both philosophies (circa 390 AD) when he invented the concept of the immortal human spirit (soul) which explained how both conscious awareness and Christ's promise of eternal life were possible. The Bible remained philosophically relevant until about 1590, when Galileo Galilei performed a series of physics experiments which proved that the physical realm was objectively real. Solipsism asserts that a person's subjective experience (the theater of their mind's eye) actually is reality and that the physical realm is an illusion created by the human mind. Science proved the unsubstantiated philosophy of Solipsism is utterly false about 400 years ago. Virtually all scientific thinkers know (because it has been proved beyond doubt) that the physical realm is absolutely real and that subjective experience is an illusion created by the mind. This means that God continues to exist where he always has, in the subjective experience of true believers. The only difference is, we now know that such subjective experience is not reality, and people who imagine it is real are actually suffering from a psychotic delusion.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the electronic vacuum tube was invented and the high impedance differential amplifier was soon developed. This led directly to the invention of the electroencephalograph (EEG), a device which proved unequivocally that all thoughts, memories, emotions, and perceptions arise directly from the living human brain. This proved that the philosophy of Idealism did not correctly describe how consciousness awareness was possible. Science, with its absolute requirement of physical evidence to support its conclusions, obliterated both Solipsism and Idealism. This means that St. Augustine's theological soul is also utterly invalid, since it has no basis in physical reality. Without Idealism and Solipsism, the immortal soul is simply impossible.
Like most atheists, I've read the entire Bible word-for-word and cover-to-cover. I was utterly repulsed by God's evil nature. The God of Abraham is a bloodthirsty tyrant unworthy of any respect from modern human beings. If a modern ruler behaved as the Biblical God, they would arrested and prosecuted for crimes against humanity. Modern people use democratic governments to manage their affairs and we have no need of bloodthirsty evil tyrants who require incessant praise and worship to supplicate their evil and vile nature. God is dead and humanity would clearly be far better off if He stays that way. The last thing humanity needs is to imagine the egotistical and maniacal God of Abraham has any real value in modern times.

No, its not because we are emotionally bitter beings that cant handle the fact that God wont answer our prayers. In fact its because we are the opposite. We are rational beings who understand that the bible is written by man, and there is nothing persuasive in the bible about the existence of God. The only persuasive thing may be the use of intimidation, that we are going to hell for not believing. Whatever man. The other reason may be, because we find meaning in our lives, without having the need for religion. For those who say, without God, our lives has no meaning, maybe religion is good for you guys. But for most atheist, that aint the case.

I was born and raised a Catholic, I studied the bible, went to church every Sunday(and just about every other day in catholic school). I know all of the arguments both for and against God. For me I stopped believing when not only was I go through a rough patch and my prayers were not answered, but also because that caused me to stop and examine my own beliefs. They do not fit with the idea of a God, but more that we are spiritual beings that need to look inside ourselves for the answers. I know that the path that I have chosen is the one for me and would never go back.

I have read the bible many times. I was a Christian at one time. I believed that god did answer my prayers. I believed that Jesus was the son of god and I would go to heaven.
As I grew up and became more educated I realized it was all a delusion. After questioning the rationality of religion I understood it's lies.
Since then I have become even further educated and I understand how religion has effected mankind and why it needs to be dissolved.

What I have read of the bible makes no sense. Some brief points -
Adam and Eve should not have been punished as they were.
The rest of humanity should not have been punished for what Adam and Eve did.
God should not have drowned the world in a fit of uncontrollable rage because his plan didn't work.
The Jews should not have been kept as slaves for 400 years while god got around to sending a troubleshooter.
The 10 commandments say nothing about slavery being wrong. Neither does the entire bible.
Praying for stuff never works and never has worked.

I have always known that god and all the others stories are just that, fictional characters from when I was a child. But in order for me to try and understand how grown men and women could really, truly believe such nonsense, I read the bible. Several times.
I came to the only conclusion possible.

Are those my only two, poorly worded choices??
Look, I grew up a beleiver. Christianity wsa forced upon me at a young age. I grew up and began to ask questions about the faith that didnt add up or make sense. And, I was always told - dont ask questions, dont question God.
Why? Because knowledge is the enemy of faith. So, no, I didnt stop believing because God wouldnt answer me, and I didnt stop believing because I never really believed. I stopped believing because I learned how to think for myself and came the conclusion that God doesnt exist.

well i'm not an Atheist, but i'm not a Christian or Catholic either.
But i'm pretty sure because the bible was written by MAN therefore there is no PROOF of God (except in the world around us which makes me an Agnostic) and so it pretty much just seems ridiculous. Stories made up from long ago to gain power from gullible people.

I have read the Bible. It is a mess.
However the reasons that I don't believe in God as the Jews Christians and Muslims do is that they can not even come up with one definition of God that survives scrutiny.

because im an atheist and i can tell you when my faith went down the drain when i was young i prayed alot for family and friends and for people in great need and for the safety of myself (i have a abusive mother) i began to relize that those people never got better and i still felt pain in my life and god never helped me not one time not ever !! so i began to ask question and it just came to me that i was atheist its not like i could stop it or any thing it was in my heart not my head . and i always felt that god was something i beleived in my head not my heart . but atheism felt like it was in my heart not my head. and plus the bible always seemed so lop sided to me there were no explonations for some of the things the bible said and besides its written by man not god himself so how does this man no every thing and how did he live over 5000 yrs to experience every thing that happend ??? see so many questions that never add up
