That its an excuse because they don't like what the person is doing. Rather than attempting to fix it, they make excuses so they can ignore it.

It's not simply that a person has sinned that makes him a "fake," but a general attitude of rebellion against Christ. You can't claim to be a Christian, then deny the words of God.

By definition, a Christian is someone who follows Christ. Therefore, anyone who actively lives opposed to the principles established by Christ is not a real Christian. If such a person claims Christianity, then they're a fake.

I laugh. Everyone is fallible.

I have only met a few "real" Christians. The ones who dont restrict doing good deeds to Sunday and really try to "love thy neighbor" and be tolerant of others. These people do wrong things sometimes, but over all are really good people.

Well, we are known by our fruits (what we've done) as Christians. It says that in the Bible, and I agree with it completely. But the church I attend does not believe a person's actual salvation is determined by works, because of the verse in the Bible that states "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast". We are saved because we accept what Christ has done for us, not because of anything we have done to earn it. By saying that person "has behaved badly" that sounds like you are referring to the past in using that tense of the words. Anyone who asks the Lord for forgiveness has the promise that they will recieve it. So if this is talking about someone's past, if the Lord has forgiven them, we should too. In cases of a Christian who is currently in sin, it is the duty of their spiritual leaders to show them how they are in sin and what they need to do to change that. The Bible has specific rules for approaching another Christian who is living in sin. We are not to make an example of that person, or spread gossip. Those who care about that person should first approach the person in confidentiality, then if needed, they can get another dedicated Christian who cares about that person to come with them and talk to that person. The Bible does go further after that about what should be done, but if the person is truly a Christian, it usually doesnt require any further actions.

The only "real" Christian, it would seem, is the one who agrees entirely with what I believe, and behaves exactly as I would have him behave.

Given that I don't behave exactly as I would have me behave, I am therefore not a "real" Christian, either.

It is hard not to use that phrase when talking sometimes. You know the people being referred to know of Christ and do not denounce Him, but don't think their actions or platforms agree with what Christ taught.

A lot of it can be just meaningless quibble but in some instances there are things that go very beyond Christ.

Being Christian or not should be evaluated by belief in Christ. The rest is just details.

Who are we to judge anyones level of christianity!! If the person that is asking the question would read their bible, they would see the parable of casting the first stone. Look inward, look at yourself. Are you perfect?? if so then I guess you can judge others but obviously nobody is perfect. So fix your own imperfections, and don't worry about "casting stones" at your neighbor.

Ye shall know them by their fruits.Calling out charlatans is par for the course,as it were.It is not casting stones or wrongful judging. It is a product of discernment. But I bet you enjoy the wishy-washy answers of Christian babes.

I wonder about the person that made the comment, weather or not they know what that expression truly means... and what it says about them as a Christian.
