India is one of the states that have been most affected by Islamic terrorism, and Iran is one of the biggest state sponsorers of Islamic terrorism. India is the world's largest democracy and Iran is the world's biggest dictatorship. India wants to preserve the globalised order which is conducive to its economic growth, especially by increasing trade with states such as USA, Israel and the EU. Whereas Iran wants to disrupt the entire global political economy and bring havoc. Moreover it seeks the destruction of those very same states that are salient to India's rising superpower status (USA in terms of Indian economy, Israel in terms of Indian military etc). So why on earth does India maintain such cordial relations with a state, which represents values that are antithetical to its own.

Moreover, the largest genocide in the entire history of human civilisation was that which was undertaken by Muslims against Hindus. It was the Persians (Nader Shah) who invaded the top half of India and forced many Hindus to convert to Islam, by burning Hindu priests alive, raping women and razoring temples. They were the ones who brought Islam to India (something which Hindus are suffering because of to this day). In this respect India has old scores to settle with the Iran.

You make a strong argument for an allied position from India's point of view but they (like any other nation) would be best served making a decision of that magnitude based on internal conditions within the country at the time such an eventuality emerges (as opposed to giving a blanket wave of support right now). Good question. (I don't know how India is positioned militarily in terms of strength and capabilities, though).

No. Iran may sponsor global terrorism but meddling with the soverignity of other countries is not justified. The USA is doing the same with hegemony all over the world. India is a non aligned country which cannot support the USA for any future war with the Iran with one pretext or other.

3] Large MNC's want globalised order for their business.
India is militarily weak to maintain this order.
4]You could not cite any proof that Iran wants to disrupt the
entire global economy.Iran is too small to do that.
5]Please do not day dream to India becoming super power.
Indians have not the culture to become super power.

As usual,the first thing I have to do is clean up the lies in this post.
Iran is NOT the "biggest dictatorship" in the world .You may have heard of a place called CHINA whose one billion plus citizens are ruled by the COMMUNIST DICTATORS.
Secondly ,the largest genocide in the world was certainly not that of the Hindus by the Muslims but rather the genocide of indigenous (aboriginals) peoples around the world Many view this world's greatest genocide as a perfect example of CHRISTIAN TERRORISM as it was the good little western European Christians who did the slaughter/butchery of the indigenous peoples.
And YOU have the gall and rank hypocricy and double standard to point a finger at the Muslims.
India like every other state follows one golden rule and that is to simply always put "national self interest" (euphemism for profits) above all other considerations and the US of course is a perfect example of this truism.
So India is not so much for globalization as it is for it's own self interest .The US for example in the past 50 years has destroyed at least 15 DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED and free governments (Iran in 1953 Chile,El Salvador,Brazil etc etc all of which are in the historical record).The US has historically beemn the PRIME military,political and economic supporter of some of the most vile ruthless dictators in history from A.Pinochet who was charged with crimes against humanity to a host of others and currently in the Middle East ,Saudi Arabia,Egypt and from 1979 to 1990,Saddam of Iraq.

I think India should be in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen and Somalia with 55 million blue helmets (UN forces) or about 5% of India's population. With Syria, Pakistan and Iran surrounded plus India camped on all of Al Queda's other major homes, I think the terrorists' sphere of influence will greatly diminish

why in world India ever support other countries??? INDIA has her own dignity and we *** Indian should be proud that we are not yet that down graded or that dependent to please other and to support just for the sake???? why did we train bin ladin? sometimes there is more to policies than meets the eye. we trained bin ladin to fight the russians but they are now on our side and bin ladin is the enemy. the main reason i believe would be relegion they are both muslim/islamic countries but if it comes to open with iran i believe that india will be a great ally of the u.s.a
