If not, then if the church keeps moving and hiding these priests, are they denying followers the opportunity to confess and be absolved? Does the church care that they're condeming followers to hell in order to protect pedophiles?

I don't know. I just think they shouldn't be priest anymore. They have abused their power and much more. The Vatican and the pope are as much to blame for ignoring the problem and just moving them somewhere else.

i know that in the past the church has not taken an active role in the sex abuse scandal. but that was in the past.

today the catholic church is doing everything it can to teach, inform, and keep the children safe and to make up for its pasts mistakes.

i don't believe that today a priest who is convicted of child abuse would still allowed to be a priest, so therefor he would not be able to hear confessions.....

as for the priests of the past... one would hope that they were moved to a place where they did not hear confessions and if they did, then they did so with a clear concious.

the catholic church has had it share of sex scandals. BUT it is not the only church that has. It is just the largest church and has gotten the most press.

there was a local baptist church in tangipoaha parish, la that ran a sex ring using minors for prostitutes out of their church.

yes I know I am on a rant, and I don't mean to be. I believe in the catholic church. yes the church made mistakes. but the church is trying to correct them.

once a year anyone who works with children, parents, teachers, priests, volunteers, etc has to go through a special training. background checks are done. Special meetings are held with parents and parents are told what to do if they suspect there is a problem.

so while we have had our problems we are trying to heal and move on.

Yes, a priest who has committed the most serious of sins and crimes can still absolve a person of their sins.

The reason for this is that God acts through the priest to absolve sins. God can use any person as an instrument to accomplish his work.

In the Old Testament, God used a king who worshipped false gods to brig His people back to Israel.

Priest can't absolve you of your sins anyway (only Jesus can cover your sins). So it doesn't matter anyway.
The Catholic church is crazy in thinking that someone that is just as much a sinner as everybody else (this is obviously true) can absolve other people of their sins.

considering the whole body now consider this. If thy eye offends thee then pluck it out. If thy hand offends thee then cut it off. Better to enter heaven minus some members than the whole body be condemned to death. Let the wise understand.
