I just bought an episode disc of Avatar the Last Airbender for my nephew. But while we were watching it we noticed something really strange. Around the lines of the animation there seems to be a kind of shadow: it's like there are two lines but the second is fuzzy and makes images somewhat distorted. Is there a problem with the disc and should I return it? Or am I doing something that is causing this?

You could try getting another disc, but since they are all pressed from the same master it would be doubtful that would make any difference.

Animation uses very bright solid colors that may be the problem. Have you tried other similar source material on this player / TV? It may be that the very bright colors are causing distortion - very often TVs will have a special setting for animated source material.

I would also try a better video connection cable between the player and the TV - the bright / solid colors may be causing the signal to degrade and a better cable may offer some help.
