It says it in the book of 2 Timothy Chapter 2, verse 6 (among other places). The Bible says "But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness." The word profane is where we get profanity, which is cursing. If you need more references just let me know.

Cursing is not a sin per say, Swearing is.

cursing as in swearing?for one it's in the ten commandments.also it says in Ephesians 4:29,Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth but that which is good to the use of edifying that it may bring grace to the hearers.

Exodus 20:7
3) “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.” This is a command against taking the name of the Lord in vain. We are not to treat God’s name lightly. We are to show reverence to God by only mentioning Him in respectful and honoring ways.

AND it is obvious, living a holy life would not include unholy things, like - cursing & profanity.
