The bible states that the bringing forth of life is a curse, I do disagree, I believe it is a gift. I believe that the creator gave us a gift that is closest to Him/Her, so if anyone is created in God's image, would it not be women? We carry and bear our sons and daughters, we feed them, care for them, shape their thoughts and ideas, their behaviors and attitudes, we are the keepers of future generations, within this role, what part do the men play except pay the bill and be the back up support. How do you feel about this?

oh, I forgot to mention, yes I am aware that men contribute about 3 to 10minutes of their initial time, some more some less, but honestly what is that compared to 40 weeks? Get a clue people.

I am not angry at men, I am angry with the roles that religion, not christianity or spiritualism place on women, cursed because we ate of the forbidden fruit first, don't think so, if God is all knowing, it was gonna happen regardless.

After reading the question and really thinking about it, the answer I came up with makes sense to me and maybe someone can take something from it. We all know that woman was created from man because God saw that man should not be alone, he NEEDED a help meat. When I think of a woman giving birth instead of a man it makes me realize that the part of man that was taken from him in order to make woman is a void that can only be filled by a woman. How else can a man realize that he is missing something if nothing is taken away or rather he was not taken away from something he needs. When a baby comes out of the womb, they come out screaming because they have been pulled away from the only person they ever knew that made them feel complete, that fed them, kept them warm, protected them from harm (sounds familiar to my ladies with children) a man can't recognize that he needs a help meat without being taken away from the only way of life he knew for 9 months. Ever notice how a baby always wants his/her mother....that connection is inevitable.
Likewise a young woman will not realize her role unless she is under the right person to teach her. Women give birth to women as well because they are bearing the fruit of themselves. Only a fig tree can bear the fruit of a fig tree...therefore only a help meat can bear the fruit of a help meat.
So to me this is why it makes sense that women bear children along side us being cursed with bringing forth life (the pains, not the child) We are suppose to be bearers of fruit, but God never meant for it to hurt so bad.

I couldn't agree with you more. That is why, before people knew that men had a role in procreation, they all revered women above all because were looked upon as the magical people who could, from our own bodies, create new life, seemingly at will. Clearly, women have a hell of a lot more to do with creating a new person than men do, simply from a physical contribution of her own body, energy and time. Therefore, a female deity creating life on Earth makes much more sense, and that is how it was before people understood that men do have a necessary contribution to creating life. The poetic way of looking at it is the Sun and the Earth. Mother Earth creates and nurtures us from Her own body, but without the spark of heat and light from the Sun, there would not be life. Both are necessary, but I do agree that a Mother Creator is a far more accurate portrayal of what our reality is here on planet Earth! Blessings, Lady Morgana )0(

Too true. But, man is pretty necessary for procreation. Although, women have much more to do with it. I think an exception is sea horses. The male is the one to raise the children. The female develops them in her body but once they're out, the male does the rest. But, I don't think many would argue that God is a sea horse. Most of nature, everything we see, involves male and female. After that, there are a million different factors that go into the formation of an individual-which is really a part of group.
So, I just don't believe any deity would be singular. Of either gender but even less likely is a single male.

Bringing forth life is a curse? No it does not say that. Why would the Lord say 'Be fruitful and multiply' if that was the case?
We are all created in His Image.
I think you are angry at men for what ever happen to you...but don't bring that into the bible. A child need a father and a mother - to be conceive firstly. Fathers help a lot, while mothers raise the child at home, the husband works to bring home 'the bacon'. (Or would you rather do both?!)
We have god given roles? It's sticking to them that people rebel against.
You view is eschewed by your experience, this is not the way things ought to be.

It takes a Man and A Woman to create life. And if I remember correctly...wasn't it the pain of child birth the curse...not bring forth children itself?
Also, because it takes a man and a woman to create a child, and the creation of a child is a wondrous glimpse into the mind and heart of God...that that is why God has deemed sexual relations to be had only between a man and a woman within the bonds of marriage. And it is when we pervert this that things get messed up the most.
God shows us that Men and Women have a role to play in all this. We are to do it together.

Actually, you've got it a bit wrong.
The Bible records that the curse was pain during childbirth, not childbirth itself.
And another technicality is that it takes both a man and a woman to create life. The second stage, after this life is created, involves the woman's body being an environment in which this new life can develop to the point where it can live outside of his or her mother.

everyone was created in God's image, men and women included. man just happened to be created first. and when Adam became lonely, God created his companion, Eve.
i have never heard that the bible says that bringing forth life is a curse....where does it say that?
before Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, childbirth was to be painless. but when they ate the fruit, pain in general was brought into the world, along with childbirth pains.
men and women were created to fulfill different roles. men as supposed to be the leaders of the household, and women are to raise the children to follow God's laws. (strictly domestically speaking)

Interesting question...
Here are my thoughts:
Gen. 1:26 reads "And God went on to say: "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness..."
Notice that God was with someone...as the verse says "us".
Prov. 8:22-32 also speaks of who was with God when He created us. And Colossians 1:15, 16 reveals that it was Jesus (God's Son) who was there.
"He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governements or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him."
Notice that God created Jesus and now through Jesus, God created all other things. So in the same way that Jesus is subject to God (1 Cor. 11:3), women also are subject to there husband. God gave the task of bringing forth creation to his Son. Likewise, man gives the task to woman.
My .02$... but an interesting question just the same...one that I will probably look further into...thanks for asking it!

Saying that "man" is created in God's image is proof of the faults of translation and language. Man here is referring to humanity. Both man and woman were created in God's image. When the Bible was first translated into English, "man" was the noun primarily used to encompass both genders. These days we're usually more politically correct so I can understand how this verse would confuse people.
But the Bible clearly states that both genders, humanity in general, is made in God's image.

I believe the Bible indicated that men & women as a whole were created in God's image. I also agree that giving birth is a gift; it certainly was for me. I think the "curse" was that, post-Eden, there was pain in giving birth as there was not going to be while Adam & Eve were still inhabitants of the garden.
