you buy a rifle for 1000 and then optics for 500 and then you want to load it with cheap ammo?
Think about it, do you run ya car on diesel cause its cheeper?
Us ethe right ammo, the very best and your rifle will perform to its very best. Cheap ammo, its a lottery.

If you live in CA they are having a sale in Vacaville and Remington steel shot shells are $5.97 a box for 2&3/4 No. 2,3,&4's through the end of July. They also have Kents on sale for $7.97 a box. I dont remember the shot sizes on those ones. They also have lead shells for $39.97 a case (10 boxes) Cheap ammo dosent matter. I've had an 870 for 12 years now and shoot everything through that gun. I just clean it after each use and once a year take the whole thing apart and clean it and it hasn't done me wrong yet.

Check out the local Wal-Mart or K-Mart. They often have shotgun shells. Expect 4 boxes of 25 each to be around $14 to $16. The #8 shot is small stuff and can break up clay disks really well. If you can get a safe place to throw your own clays, that can be good fun to shoot with a friend. The hand throwers work OK once you practice and are cheaper than the machine ones.

Depends on what "ammo type"
Pistol and Rifle ammo I'd look at Sportsmanguide.com
I buy 9mm in 1000 lot and 223 and 7.62x39 in 1000 lots.
I buy 30.06 ammo but but i tend to buy these in 3-10 single box lots with JSP. 20 rounds to the box. I don't like the surplus ammo for my 30.06.
Shotgun ammo, I buy Remington Gun Club at a local gun superstore for about $40 for a case. (250 shells) Cabela's match the price.

Cheap Ammo is a no go. Use good rounds and it will save you problems later.
