it works quickly, has few side effects and helped me a little bit. I am better on Effexor. I take them for anxiety.
I haven't heard anything bad about it from the others I know that have taken it.

I have taken this. some of the side effects i had. the first days were hard. I'm sure you have read about diarrhea and its very true, but just for the first couple of days. so hang in there through that. I thought it worked well. but there are some mild sexual side effects. it may be worse for men, because i experienced it as a woman.
I thought it worked well for me. It depends on the type of depression you have. I had trouble getting motivated to do anything, i just was in a funk and didn't want to do anything productive. I didn't care about anything in my life. so lexapro gave me a boost to get reinterested in my life. there are more severe types of depression that it may not be as effective with.
Also after i was on it for a while, i didn't see any of the benefits any more. it seemed like i built up a tolerance or something, but i also didn't feel like i needed it anymore

It took me about 6 weeks and 20mg to feel it working. I'm on 30mg now and it's ok. I'm definitely less depressed but I can tell it's not quite enough. It does nothing for my anxiety. I'm taking Klonopin for that. I haven't had any weight gain or other nasty side effects. I am a bit sleepy sometimes but that's most likely from the Klonopin rather than the Lexapro.

I was on it for a while, for depression. It didn't help me as much as I know it has helped others, but everyones body has different reactions to the drugs. If it works for you, this is one of the best anti-depressents there is. It has relatively low side effects, and the biggest reason it is such a good drug is because you can use it for a long period of time without having it effect you if you stop taking it. When you get on an anti-depressent or anxiety medication, this is something you should look into and be aware of, because most all other drugs, when used for a long period of time, will end up making you more crazy than you started off, when you get off of them. I would recommend using this drug if it is working with you.

I loved it. I took it because of anxiety (bad job). Now I am on Paxil because the insurance company will not pay for Lexapro. If I could have it back, I would take it in a heartbeat.
