I've noticed that a lot people seem to dislike him. I've always wondered why. He always speaks well of his opponents (that I've seen). He's a great driver or he wouldn't have as many wins as he does. So, just curious.
BTW: I'm a new fan to NASCAR. If your answer is that he cheats, I think the NASCAR governing bodies would see that and disqualify him form that race. So, that will be an unaccaptable answer for me. Othe guys do things that are disciplined and get fined and so forth, too.

Oct. Talladega COT race, Gordon better hope some other team has figured out the COT and wins that race.... we have all deicided to bring our trash from home with us next time.

There are soooooo many reasons why some people don't like Jeff Gordon and it's IMPOSSIBLE to believe that you can sum it up in one little paragraph on this board.
Everybody who disliked Gordon as a different reason so your NEVER going to get an accurate answer to this question.
You Cannot lump all Gordon haters into the same mold...so know-it-all's who think they can write a quick summary on why Gordon is hated are fooling everyone.
Good luck and don't believe everything you hear.
If you wanted a more accurate answer to this question, you should have pointed to towards the haters themselves, how can you get a real answer on why Gordon is hated from a Gordon fan.....that's not going to work. They are only going to tell you some one sided and generally wrong answer that involves an Earnhardt which is not always the case.
Maybe part of the hate is some Gordon fans referring to Dale Sr. fans as "rednecks", that might have something to do with it. Talk about disrespect!!!, geez , real classy
On this board, there are more Gordon fans than anyone else so as far as rampant hate for Gordon....that's just not true.

As a driver I really respect him and think he is a top 5 in NASCAR history.
But the politics that brought him in to the cuplevel was shady at the best.

I can not speak for anyone except myself. I do not deny that Gordon is one of the all-time greats in Nascar. The guy can flat out drive, and I can only dream of having that much talent. With that said, I personally don't like him and I root against him. I was a Dale Sr. fan and now I am a Kevin Harvick fan. Yes I am a fan, I root for the drivers I like and boo the the on-track rivals of those drivers, the rest of the drivers I don't do either. Jeff Gordon and HMS to me represent the yankees of Nascar, They have the most money and resources compared to most other teams. It also makes it easier to dislike some drivers because of their personalies. Jeff gordon to me has always seemed to be a whiner and quotes from Johnson like "this is for the 48 haters" just make me not like them even more. gordon/johnson fans can probably say the same thing about Harvick and dale sr., and thats ok becasue they are fans, and the passion of the fans is one of the things that makes NASCAR great. Jeff gordon could possibly be the nicest guy in the world and the cleveland browns could have some really great guys on their team as well, that doesnt mean i have to like them.

Why do people hate Duke or the Yankees? Cuz they win or either they're a Carolina fan or a Sox fan. Same thing applies to Gordon, people don't like the team or person that wins a lot, and you'll find a lot of Jr fans don't like them simply because they're Jr fans and if your a Jr fan (like me) then you don't like Jeff. Just the way rivalry works in Nascar like any other sport.

I will tell you what it is.....a lot of the older NASCAR fans dislike anyone new, especially a new rookie that is winning all the time. The 'hate' started when the jealousy set in. The #24 is a good, fair driver as you could see in yesterday's race if he wasn't Hamlin would have been bumped & dumped. I am a Jr. fan and I think Gordon is an awesome racer and seems to be a cool guy.

People dislike Jeff Gordon simply because he is the best out there right now and when he came into the sport he was beating everyone including Dale Earnhardt and he has a lot of fans so that made Earnhardt fans dislike Jeff Gordon

Because they beat their hero Dale Sr. Even though he was on of the best in NASCAR history, Jeff is a little bit better. Ever since Jeff tied and serpassed him in number of wins, Junior Nation has hated the guts out of him.

People feel like he has been "handed" things in this sport. His stepfather has money and he's been in racing since he was very young. He is very talented and picked up by a good team (Hendrick).
So in a nutshell, they are jealous! He has worked very hard to get where he is. Money has helped him, but you can't fault him for having money. It makes the world go 'round ;o)

Your right he is very talented and is also a classy driver. But its just one of those things if you arent a fan of Jeff, you just dont like him....there is no in between. I think it comes because he was so young and did very well his first couple years in Cup and was really the only competition to Sr the last couple years before his accident. They had a little rivalry Sr. thought Jeff was a crybaby but Jeff was one of those drivers that wasnt intimitated. You have to keep in mind Sr was huge and Jeff was a young kid that was proving to the world how he could race with the best. Its has nothing to do that he cheats just something we just like to say cause we arent really fans. I am not a fan of Jeff at all but I respect him as a driver and all he has accomplished all while being a class act.......
Except for what happened with him and Kenseth last year.....LAME
