You have no idea. ROTFL
Christianity is a status symbol here. Not to say they don't believe they are doing the right thing. Perfect example a girl at my school had a nice bible verse for her senior quote but was sleeping with two guys at the same time. Sure she wasn't a "real" christian, but that south is full of them. It's all about being better then everyone else. The teen pregnancy rate is so high because no one talks about it. That's not "nice". They preach love and acceptance but make African american's lives hell. Yupper...welcome to south.

Well, that 's a pretty unscientific generalization, but I guess I can venture a guess. A lot of people like to play religion, especially in the south. Church on Sunday, live however you want the rest of the week. Some people just pay lip service to God, and go to church because it is the 'proper' thing to do.
Not to generalize, but I'm from the south and it does seem that way sometimes.

Just because you are a believer it does not mean you are sinless. Unfortunately, I am a walking example.
The Bible says something like "All men have sinned and come short of the glory of God." That is so true.

There is?
Springfield, Missouri claims to be the buckle of the Bible Belt. Have you compared the crime rate there to say Chicago or Washington, DC?
Springfield, MO 3.3 murders per 100,000 in 2005
Chicago, IL 15.6 murders per 100,000 in 2005
Washington, DC 35.4 murders per 100,000 in 2005

Behold: because teaching children how to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease is considered sinful, the rate of teenage pregnancy and teenage venereal disease is MUCH higher in the Babble Bailt than it is in the rational areas. The Lord has a sense of humor.

I live in Texas; sometimes they call us the buckle of the Bible Belt. And there's just as much sin because none of us are perfect. Speaking for myself, pursuing the Bible just makes me more aware of how unperfect I really am!

Because you Yankees move here to get away from the snow, experience SEC football, and eat southern cooking.
To Pagan's Wager....I won't disagree with everything you said, but...I've been all over the USA and hypocrisy is not confined to the south. The biggest redneck KKK guys I ever knew were from Illinois and Ohio.

What, you didn't think us Christians were supposed to be perfect, did you? While we are called to be like Christ, there's no way we'll ever be perfect. Blameless in the eyes of God, yes, but not perfect. At least, not while we're still here.

Because the devil is as busy here as he is in other parts of the U.S., and people here are just as flawed and weak as well.
