Christians are to witness the gospel of Christ to others. Many of them hate us. Jesus told us this would happen. Be steadfast in your witness. Don't become lukewarm, so you will be popular. When you must endure the onslaught of vicious verbal attacks, remember it could be worse. You could be one of them. You could be prideful, arrogant, angry, hostile, full of hate, and deceived. You could be lost. Pray for them. Love them. But, don't lie to them just to get along with them. Satan has already lied to them. What they need is honesty. Whether or not they are willing to accept the truth is out of our hands. They have been given the free will to make their own choice as to where they want to spend eternity. They call us names and insult us in any way they can think of, but this is only an indication they need Jesus. Obey God and witness to those who are lost in sin. Jesus never said it would be easy. He only said it would be worth it.
May God bless you and may His Holy Spirit guide you.

This question was specifically directed to Christians, yet I am accused of "shoving" my beliefs down peoples' throats. Sadly, witnessing is always attacked in this way by many who are lost and those who have chosen to be lukewarm.
I haven't insulted anyone. I have described a behavior and an attitude which can not honestly be denied.
Those of you who claim to be Christians and who support this behavior are only making yourselves stumblingblocks. I'm very sorry you have chosen this path.

First your comment. I don't see this as insulting in any way to anyone!
Now the question. We are to witness to people and live our life in a Christ like manner. One plants, another waters, still another harvests. Jesus says we will be hated, because He was hated. I'm sure the unbelievers will rejoice when the believers are raptured out of here. They have no idea of what it will be like, and how close to Hell it will really be on this earth. What I see as a worsening situation is all of the compromise, feel good, prosperity messages. I don't remember ever reading this kind of message in the Bible ever being preached. Woe to those that do. Ministers will be held to a higher level of accountability.
As far as being worse, yes it could. Mt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear (respect) Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. So it is far worse to end up in Hell than get a little persecution here on earth.

Christ also said he was the one who adds to the church daily . So aren't some Christians needlessly getting rebuked because of their bible pounding?
It is no one else but God that saves and I think a lifestyle of the expression of God goes allot farther then handing out tracks or standing on street corners preaching unless that was part of God's will for you to do !
God's grace is about more then having eternity with him and did you know there's greater grace that serves the purpose in accomplishing his will? I actually think you can waste that greater grace on idol accomplishments that God never planned for you in the first place....

While I agree with you that we are to witness to others,I must remind you that we are not supposed to force our beliefs on others!
People must seek GOD on there own, because they want to,not because they are being forced into it!
To be a "witness" means to be there to answer questions and give testament to those who seek answers and fellowship,to help them to understand the faith that they have chosen,or are considering.
Weather you realize it or not, right now you are the one doing the attacking, and making judgments of people who do not believe as you do,when what you should be doing is praying for them,as I will be praying for you!

I am not a christain but my parents are. I respect your wanting to get out and witness however saying that those of us who are not christain (frankly Im pagan) prideful, arrogant, angry, hostile, full of hate, and deceived...doesnt make a good picture of your religion.
I'm not trying to yell or sound snotty, not at all. Generally Ill listen to someone who is trying to witness to me if they will in turn let me explain my religion. I go to church with my parents
There are some major faults in trying to witness to people especially those of us in paganism and wicca. Do not tell us that we will go to hell and burn because chances are theyve heard it more then once. Personally what works for me is someone who is believeable, someone who you feel comfortable around and can talk to. someone who laughs and just shows general warmth.
Be kind when you witness to us

Yeah, too many have a fear of man, and soften up on the truth.
Whole denominations have done this...it's no compromise, it's not having an open mind, it's a surrender of standing fast to the truth.

And may the Holy Spirit guide you to an understanding of the meaning of the word "No" and the phrase "I'm not interested." Have your say and go away. That will work for me. Don't try to shove it down my throat. Your way is not my way.

Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only Jehovah's Witnesses are so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally more than 6 million preach publicly each month.
(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.
(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.
(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house
The reaction of ostensible "Christian" householders is sad. Sad but completely expected.
(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.
Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preachers and preaching, what is he saying about himself?
(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

It could be worse, I agree! I was reading this book, called "I Will Die Free" (good book, I highly recommend it!!) about this Christian who was put in a Cuban prison for being a Christian. For 25 years he was in prison, in nothing but his underwear, who was tortured to no end. They'd give him food (occasionally) with maggots on it--which eventually he'd eat (eew), put him in little cubicles for weeks on end, etc. He and his prison-inmates would write Scriptures on gum wrappers and pass them the holes in the wall, and they'd even carve them in the soap and "pass the soap" in the shower so everyone could read it! Finally he was released, because the soldiers realized that all their efforts to kill the man were in vain!
I'm glad I'm not going through that...
Thanks for the encouragement, I need it!!!! :)
God bless you in all that you do.

You pull out some of the less affective arguments. Your words seem to come from pain, not joy or enlightenment. Step back evaluate yourself and what you state please.
Edit post add details:
You write with infectious hatred, I don't like your stance towards even those who follow your path and wish you would look first at yourself for peace. I hope you recover, regardless of your faith you're hurt.
