A true theocracy would be great, unfortunately, no god wants to do the job, and we're stuck with people who CLAIM to know what their gods say to do the job, so I oppose it.

Strongly oppose. It implies that there is one view of God, and if you have noticed, with over 500 denomination in the USA alone, there are many views of what "God" and says. The biggest theocracies in the world are Muslim, and they are among the most repressive. Iran hangs gay people. Malaysia separates spouses for religious reasons. The Taliban was killing women for the way they dressed in Afghanistan, and now in Pakistan.

There's no room for dialogue within a theocracy, so unless you want a totalitarian government, we must resist all calls for theocracy.

I oppose it for America.

I think it may work in a small community of like-minded individuals. It's when you get to the point where someone disagrees religiously that it would fall apart.

I actually feel the same way about communism. I think it's a great idea but would only work on a small basis with a group of people who all agree. In my college days I used to always joke that I wanted to start a commune, but lately it's becoming more and more appealing.

Actually, I am very much looking forward to living in a Theocracy...where God is King.
That can't happen in this world. We can do our best to live our lives in accordance with His will while we are here, and, if we are lucky enough to live in a democracy, we can vote as our hearts direct us. That isn't the same thing as a Theocracy at all.

Religion has always been one of the worst things to base laws on. Virtually no Western laws are based on religion. By contract, Sharia law is - based on a religion of the same Abrahamic line as Christianity.

You pick.

Well, that is pretty much the way Iran and a few other Islamic countries are governed now. Whatcha think? You want to be governed by sword wielding Mullahs?

It's funny that every "Christian" will say that there should be a separation of Church and State but will apply all the political pressure that they can in order to mix the two.

Oppose. Not only "no" but "HELL no".

Why not? Because no one religion should have the rule of an entire free country.
