Have you ever gone into a bridal shop, and tried on a gown and it fit perfectly? Or did you have to have alterations? And if so, who was the designer.

I'm just curious.

I bought my gown at Davids Bridal a few months ago (the wedding is in less than 2 months) and it needs no alterations, It fit perfectly which is rare for someone short like me (5'1", 240 lbs)
I think it is rare but it happened to me.
the designer was Davids Bridal

Well I have not gotten a wedding gown yet, however I did go to bridal stores to look for prom/homecoming dresses. I never once found a dress that fit. I am short (5'2) with a large chest. So I would always have to get a dress a few sizes to big and then have them take it in on the sides, and shorten it.

Yes I have. I went to David's Bridal and the first dress I tried on fit me perfectly. I do however need to get the hemm shortened, it is a little too long. Other than that it fit and looked great! I am not sure who the designer is.

None of the dresses I tried on fit me, I'm short and when I was looking for a dress I had been quite ill and lost loads of weight, so I was pretty skinny. The dress had to be altered to fit me, I think it was a Mary Bee dress, but it was so long ago that may not be the right name. This time around I just had a dress made to fit me as I did not want to go trying on loads of dresses I could not afford lol....

This was one of the things I hated about shopping for a wedding gown: most of them weren't my size at all and because they didn't fit, I couldn't see what they'd really look like on me. I ended up borrowing my sister's sister-in-law's dress, and it did fit perfectly, but I don't know who the designer was.

I went to David's Bridal last Sunday and the 3rd dress I tried on fit me perfectly. I am not sure on the designer though.

Yes, some of them fit, but not the one I wanted - it needed to be let out! However, the shop had an amazing seamstress who inserted little V panels under each arm, of the same heavy bridal satin, and you couldn't even tell anything was done!

I havent tried on any dresses yet for this my 2nd wedding, but for my first one I found a beautiful dress that I fell in love with and it fit perfectly and it was on sale. It was the first and only one I tried on. I figured if I loved it that much and it fit perfectly why look further.

Both of my wedding gowns did just that! They fit perfect, off the rack! The first one was a Jessica McClintock (circa 1986). The second came from a small boutique in Denver - it was a one-of-a kind (http://denver.citysearch.com/profile/1822862). I think it may be more common than you think.
