Super generic answer, but have you just tried googling a given city/state and "tattoo convention"? When I was looking for specifics on the Body Art expo in San Francisco a while back I did that I found a plethora of shows across the country. Had to refine my search criteria a bit... I did see a link to "Hell City Tattoo Convention" but I'm getting a timeout right now.
It might be a little sparser in the Midwest though. Best of luck to you.

go to the tattoo shops that are in your area and they normally have fliers in there shops letting people know when the next tattoo conventions are.

A quick phone call to your nearest tattoo shop will net you a list, if there are any.
