my boyfriend and i have been together for seven months and yesterday was our anniversary. He is a very good boyfriend but there is one small problem. He believes that he shuld be my number one priority and I have no problem with that under surtain circumstances. This weekend i was out of town staying at a friend of a friend's house and yesterday they had a picnic andthere where guest over and it was as i had also mentioned me and my boyfriends anniversary. He calls me as im being introduded to all these people and I was trying to be a gracious guest and not talk on the phone. So I tell my boyfriend I'll call you back in an hour ,I m at a guest house and I don't want to be rude. so i before I can say anything else he hangs up on me. I call back and he wont answer the phone. I get pissed off immediatly and send him a text expressing my anger and he still doesnt reply back. later he argues w/me about how i should be his number one priority no matter what and that i shoulda talked to him.

Don't regret or question anything. What you did was right. You were a guest trying to mingle with new people and it is rude to talk on the phone. You sure have manners. Anyways, your boyfriend is one of those guys that sound attached and dependent on you. He can't be your number 1 priority because you have other things too. Like what if he calls you at time which is really crucial like a prostigous job interview. Ok i don't think that you should just walk out and talk to him. Tell him that you do love him but you can't give him all your time because you do have a life.

Sounds to this old guy like this guy is a control freak and that there is a chance that this may evolve into an abusive relationship if your not careful. We all like to feel important in our partners lives but this is carrying things way to far. Very immature and controlling behaviour in my eyes.

Sounds like he's a little quick with the anger. Did you guys talk about what made him so mad? Maybe he had something super important to tell you. If not, thats a little scary.

i never put a guy as my #1 prority. in a relationship, sometimes it's best not to be like that because then the other person can use it as a way to control you. i think it is very selfish of him to get mad about what you did, you were trying not to be rude to your friend's. i think he acted completely immature in this situation.

Oh gee...long distance relationship never works! Just my opinion. But if anything, you're right, you have to respect the guests.
