Asking questions to gain knowledge is great, I encourage it! Has our society changed so much that asking rude and disrespectful questions is considered okay and acceptable?

I am not talking about being PC or ultra tactful. I agree that asking someone to substantiate their claims is also good. I don’t consider questions of that nature to be rude or disrespectful.

There are some great answers there, thanks!

Some people have nothing better to do than ask loaded/insulting questions. What makes it worse is when other people egg it on.

That's like asking, why are there thieves and murderers in this world?

Yes. This is a good place to gain knowledge.... of good and bad, happy and sad, right and wrong. Disrespectful or rude people probably have felt rejection in their lives at one time or another.

Yes, it could be an attention getter, or
a manners forgetter.

It's up to you to either act, or react. I prefer acting by looking the other way, and go on to better questions or answers.

God bless.

I have noticed that too. People hate it when their religion and beliefs is disrespects, yet, you find the same people disrespecting other people's religion and beliefs. If we want to be respected, we should respect everyone's views as long as they are put in nice polite words. I mean, as you said, it's okay to question, but I think contributors should choose their words wisely when doing so.

And as an answer to your question, I would say that those people who post discouraging questions and answers actually carry those feelings within them. Some of them may not say the same thing face to face in order to keep their reputation in the society, but they do that here under nicknames because no one knows them and they're not afraid of losing anything. So it's some kind of repression for thier sick thoughts.

Try to ignore the rude ones and pay attention to the respectful ones. That's what I try to do. Some people just ask things to get a rise out of others.

Bear in mind, many people view "Jesus" the way you view "Zeus" so what is disrespectful to you might be something that they can't comprehend.

People are looking for attention. Rude questions tend to get a lot more responses than the real questions. I think that is a problem in every part of the Society & Culture section.

Because the people in here tend to be polar opposites from one another and have zero respect for the other's beliefs. Each group thinks the other is unenlightened and less intelligent. It's senseless. :)

Disrespectful people have to much time on their hands... and no social life, probably because they are disrespectful in real life as well.
