When my ex and I broke up a year ago, I didn't realize that he had been cheating on me with his now-gf. The day we moved out of our apartment, he moved in with her. In his case, he was weak. He couldn't go one month without a female by his side, to tell her what to do. The other girl was right, there are some deep issues there that need to be resolved, and that's not going to happen if there isn't any time for yourself.

Then again, it could all just be a society norm you're trying to live up to, a behavior you have picked up in life and has been found acceptable or even something a male role model in your life has lacked.

not all men do this, and girls do this as well. because it makes it easier to break it off, most people stay in bad relationships because they do not want to be alone. so if you have a standby - you do not have that worry. and it makes it easier to get over the one you just left. the bad part is the stand by usually ends up getting hurt in the process as well.

I was going to ask the same question about women. Actually, I used to love the down time. It gave me a chance to think about who I wanted to date. And why I didn't want to date the person I was with. But some people just can't be alone. They aren't strong enough.

Same reason women do it...because they don't want to be single. They hop from one relationship to the other, with little to no 'down time' in between.

It's a good sign that person likely has issues and isn't someone worth dating until they sort 'em out.

It's no more common for men than it is for women. This is one of those questions where the poster paints an entire gender with their individual bad experience.

If you keep choosing men like this perhaps you should look closely at why you're choosing them. It may well be that you think you're looking for one thing but you're blinded by something shallow.

We almost always find what we're looking for we just all to often lie to ourselves about what we're looking for.

It's a sign of inmaturity and insecurity. They are afraid they can not be strong enough to be with out a woman.
