After a warm-up show against Pulver....Do you think Penn will defeat Matt Huges and erase that lose he had before!?

I think Huges better shape-up and train harder.....Penn is out for revenge. I think Penn will finish off Huges on a Kamura or a rear naked choke hold (like he did before).

The last fight, Penn fracture a rib, and when Huges got Penn on a side mount Penn wanted Huges to hit him in the face not the body......Huges continue to hit him on the face and the ref stop the fight.....Crybaby Huges got luck that night.....The "Prodigy" will be back and will have more preperation for this fight.

I think it will be a while before he fights at 170. He'll have to buff up again and that takes a little time. He was walking around at 158lbs. when he was getting ready to fight Jens Pulver.
But i hope he beats him. BJ seems like a cool guy.

wow. this fight may never happen. because Hughes is saying he may go to 185 if he gets the belt back. however lets look at the two fights objectively. the first matt hughes slipped on the take down attempt and hughes did a good job defending himself until finally an awesome right hand hits hard. when bj went for the choke hughes actually tried to take a leg. He knows better now. second fight penn was out of shape, he even admitted to not conditioning like he should. hughes would have won on that factor alone. now lets look at some other ufc factors. kos vs sanchez, let down. liddel vs jackson, let down. and many more lately that have not been worth the pay per view prices. IF this fight ever happens we must look at the fact that both fighters are smarter, stronger and very different than the last two fights they had, it could be awesome it could suck bad. I will say I'm thinking hughes. I've been wrong before so lets just hope for a good fight if it ever happens

Penn would take the 3rd installment of this series. In their second fight he was out of shape since he was a "last minute" replacement and he had won both the first and second rounds of that fight anyways. He did look like he was in much better shape against Jens, but if he goes up to 170 again he'll have to gain a little more weight (hopefully muscle) so its not to Hughe's advantage. I would love to see him win the lightweight title later this year since he's officially next in line. Then I'd like to see him fight someone like Karo or GSP again (which could have gone either way the first time) and get the welterweight belt back. If it's Matt Hughes then that'll be the icing on the cake for me. I can't stand him.

If Serra pulls off another miracle agaisnt Hughes, this fight will probably happen right off. If and when Hughes gets the belt back *gag* BJ will have to take another fight or two at 170 before he gets the title shot. If Hughes loses to GSP/Kos, there's your number one contender fight right there.

The way I see the whole 170 thing working...

Hughes beats Serra
GSP beats Koscheck
BJ beats a middle of the pack Welterweight.
GSP beats Hughes
BJ beats Hughes
BJ Penn vs. Georges St. Pierre 2 to kick off 2008.

I have put way too much thought into this. But I've always wondered why BJ has only fought elite fighters lately. I know GSP was injured so they threw BJ in to fight Matt, but he almost won the belt as a replacement. I'd really like to see BJ fight someone like Burkman just to get a nice win and show everyone why he should be included in the list of p4p best.

Anyway... When Penn vs. Hughes 3 does happen, BJ will own Matt again, submit him in the second round, and retire him.

I think Penn takes the third fight.

It wasn't a broken rib though, he tore the muscle or tendon off the bone. I remember him talking about it a couple days after the fight.

Hughes has no stand-up, BJ has decent hands and can take a punch. Hughes is a good wrestler, but he can't rely on putting BJ on his back cause Penn will just sub him.

Hughes did get lucky in the last fight, he was getting tooled until the rib injury.

I think that penn will be the next welterweight superstar so long as he desires. I believe Penn is in the category as Fedor and Shogun Rua, I believe that pound for pound Penn has to be considered one of the best so long as he stay in shape and keeps up cardio. He has all the tools to move up into the middle weight if he wanted. I would love to see Anderson silva vs Penn, my money is on Penn. He is just a mix of pure talent skill and power.

I think it would be Penn. Hughes is one of my all time favorite fighters but BJ look really good and sharp against Jens. It would be a great fight. True Penn is hungry to avenge his loss but Hughes is also hungry and wants his belt back. This is a fight I would defiantly watch and would look forward to.

It's simple, if B.J. comes into the fight in shape he will beat Hughes if they were to have a rubber match. The last time they fought B.J. put on a MMA clinic, he showed why he's considered the best in the world in terms of skillsets. But at the beginning of the third round B.J. was winded and therefore got beat. B.J. once admitted that he hates running for cardio. Bottom line is if B.J. is in great cardio shape I don't who can beat him at 155lbs or 170lbs.

They say styles help to make for good fights and I think no matter who wins the public will be the winner. Hughes with his awesome wrestling skills, strength and chiseled physique against an average looking Penn whose awesome fighting abilities and record speak for itself. I am looking forward to the rematch!
