I understand that some can go to extremes but why not take care of our earthly home? I know that some think the earth will be destroyed and recreated but...

Why not conserve your resources?

Why not add less pollutants in the world?

Why not care for the animals?

Why not pick up some trash in your area?

Why not?

I can direct my questions to whomever I wish. In my experience a lot of my fellow believers disregard their home because they feel that since it will be destroyed why bother?

As Christians we should feel called to be "green" if nothing else. If we see this world as God's creation, why would we not feel compelled to take care of it? I get frustrated so easily by all the Hummers in my church parking lot.

there's nothing wrong with being green.. we're supposed to be stewards of the earth, it was given into our care and for our use. But, sometimes, you have to clear and plow the field so you can grow crops. Sometimes you have to prune the tree limb that doesn't bear fruit. Sometimes you have to clear the brush away from your home so your house won't burn down from a wildfire caused by another natural element, lightening. Sometimes you have to dam a river to direct its flow. there has to be a balance in the use and non-use of resources. Natural resources themselves have the ability to pollute, not just man-made chemicals. There's a coal fire in PA that's been burning for decades, spewing as much smoke into the air as any factory did. How come nobody's put that out yet? Too much money? We waste more money than any other country on earth for far less good reasons. Volcanos spew pollutants into the atmoshere, too. I just think there should be a reasonable approach to using our resources, not mindlessly preserving it because "it was already there".

If you read the laws in Leviticus, it includes much regarding being good stewards or resources. It also provides great hygiene regarding waste products and preservation of clean drinking water and food products.

Yes, nothing wrong with a little green thinking. However, when it is used with a political agenda, you can count me out.

Jesus was an excellent citizen. He never disobeyed the existing laws of the land unless they conflicted with God's laws. Christians should take care of the earth since it is God's creation. The Bible says at Revelation 11:18 that God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth.

in my personal experience...it has been non Christians that got lazy and do not care about helping the envirnoment.

most Christians I know are conscience about those things.

And as a Chrsitian I get really tired of being singled out as the destroyer of the environment, God gave us this planet for us to enjoy and take care of. We will be held responsible for our actions (or lack of them).

Each one of us should take care of the environment and do the best we can to keep it beautiful for future generations and it really should not matter what religious belief you have or don't have. I don't see where the 2 connect.

Don't just direct this to Christians, it's something that should be directed to everybody. I agree with what you're saying though.

Why are you talking to Christians? Are we the only ones contributing to the pollution problem? I think not.
