mustang p-51 for a fighter, b17 for a bomber. the p51 in the later series must have been a beaut to fly.

I love the ME-262 for German aircraft. It was way ahead of it's time and if developed in early 41 could have changed the air war. For the Americans, the P-51 Mustang, for the Brits the Mosquito. Those wooden devils drove the Germans crazy! For the Italians...HA

The Corsair-F4U- a beautiful aircraft with its gull shaped wings. An excellent fighter against the Japanese Zero. Well armored and well armed. A little difficult to fly at times. A real killer aircraft. Excellent for close ground air support especially in the hands of Marine pilots
I thank the Navy for this aircraft. They didn't trust them when landing on a carrier so they gave them to the Marine Corps and they showed the Navy how to fly them and land them on carriers. (no slur intended against the Navy).
The Hellcat was also a tremendous aircraft.

I always liked the F4U Corsair, it's my favorite.
Followed by the P-47 Thunderbolt and the Focke-Wolfe Fw-190.

P-51 Mustang tank buster. From what I understand the Allied pilots loved that plane.
