I am not looking to study with Jehovah's Witnesses though...been there done that.

I have to travel a long way to attend church and I work a lot so I need something closer to home or work.

i did read the age of reason and I have been studying on my own for years.....I think that brainwashing me will be difocult in that, I have taken years to deprogram from the JW dogma.

I am from Toronto so i am not too sure where the Santa Cruz area is .... but i do have some information on chruches in each major city where there is the healthy teaching in the word. I will give u a link and maybe there is one close to your area..This coming thursday i am going to meet up with a few others at a brother's home to go through the epistles of John.. i am really looking forward to it.

Unfortunately can't help you there.
For over fifty years I have found very few churches have good sound Bible study. Most of my study has consisted of reading many books and commentaries. I started study with the KJV and Scofield Bibles but for several reasons found it necessary to move onto the NASV, NRSV, and ESV. I consider the minimum for serious study is an Interlinear Bible, a concordance and a Bible Dictionary.
Too easy to be misled by the majority of church leaders.

Even through i live in Australia I've seen Pew Potato mention BSF Women bible study, i go to one and they are so excellent.

Study on your own. Don't let yourself be brainwashed by a program. Try reading "The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine.
