From what I've read it does.
Cap represented America's idealism.
But he also came to represent the freedom of the individual to -be- an individual.
Marvel appears to be saying that the fear and hatred in America have killed the dreams.
Cap surrendered out of compassion for others. This, plus his subsequent death, give him a Christ-like quality.
Expect Marvel to use this in the future: something like "the spirit of Captain America endures".
And you -know- Marvel. They are famous for ressurecting the dead.

you know, i've been sitting here trying to come up with an answer and it's tough. i used to read lots of marvel comics as well as dc, valiant, dark horse.. cpt america was one of my favorites. his death, to me, is both a socio and political. as a people, there is so much paranoia that it's going to get to the point where no one wants to leave their homes. the media isn't helping any. with the scandals at every level in government...i don't even think i should have to say much more. i still can't believe cpt america got killed off.

Captain Marvel will never die ........his persona has transcended the realm of fiction and fantasy. Many people my age remember when things had a clarity and significance........not in a naive way.....but you need to know, these things happen for a reason, and you can choose ofr yourself....what level of reality you wish to participate in.........
there are levels in reality like in professional wrestling or religion............each can choose his own level of reality and HOW he wants to believe...not necessarily what.
We need to forget about color and religion. Our country is in trouble. Americans come in all shapes colors and sizes, but.......we are Americans. This is what should bond us together against the world. Do you really think any other country gives a damn what happens to America? Heck, they are praying for our death. Lets focus on Americans, of all colors.
Listen........this is America and our country should put Americans first in everything. Immigrants should not have any rights here at all, lets take care of our fellow Americans first. America is NOT the lifeboat for the rest of the world. We dont owe anyone a damn thing except to our veterans.
Other countries dont even allow immigration........there is no real reason we need immigrants anymore. Let the people from other countries build up their own country, dont run away and try to hide in America. America was built at a price of blood.......most immigrants today are cowards in their own country, thats why they try to hide here. Americans are willing to die for our country, but the immigrants obviously would rather let someone else do their fighting and sacrifice for them.
There are PLENTY of Americans ready to work for a decent wage. We dont need immigrants. The H1B visa program is a scam by big business, dont believe for a second they cant find any qualified Americans to take a job.
Its time we took back our country and maybe even changed the form of government we have. We are no longer represented fairly, the representation is for the wealthy and special interests.
The Americans in our country come in all colors and religions. There is no race involved. What IS involved is simple......this is OUR country and we dont want anymore damn immigrants........got it?
People, we built this country and many of us shed blood for our country, we deserve to have a home, secure from foreign invaders. An illegal immigrant is a foreign invader.
America is in a death spiral. We cant carry the weight of every crybaby immigrant that wants into our great country.
We need to put a MORATORIUM on all immigration, until every single American is taken care of first.
AMERICANS FIRST........then..maybe...a few immigrants here and there.
We Americans May be closer than we think..........to that special time...........time to lock and load

I think we don't believe in super heros anymore. I believe in general we're fed up and don't see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Cap. America represented that here in the USA. When we used to believe in the general good our country has done.
More and more we are loosing that belief. More and more we are becoming jaded by those we put into power.

probably more of a political statement. the era of captain american and americana is dead and gone it seems and his death could signify it. shame too. i know they kill off all the characters eventually but it sucks to see the american icon put down like that.
i dont see any spiritual signifigance, he was mostly politics and patriotism. a symbol of americas greatness. now it seems we're not so great. thus his fall.

Crappy thing, but depending on who reads it and how they look at it, it could be a metaphor for the freedoms and liberties that America once had and Captain stood for are dying or dead.

Captain America was an overt propaganda tool
maybe it's the gullibility of the people to discern this and thus the death of patriotism to be used to motivate a fascist and corporate state of people who no longer believe in democracy and are shifting back to communistic and corporate state enslavement
