I heard that ss disabiltiy uses same critera to determine if your disabeled. I have epilepsy, cervical stenosis, and a right shoulder I hurt when i had a seizure that I can't use now.

I don't know who would have told you that. Going on claim with a private insurer is usually easier to do than with SSI. Be glad you had that insurance. The SSI lawyers that I know say that they deny the first application almost automatically just to see if you are serious.

NO ~ LTD is for after your normal sick leave ends and you are still unable to get back to work. It usually pays you 66% of your normal wages. It has nothing to do with SS Disability (which is much harder to get) from the government.
Get some information on SS Disability, you might qualify.

Not necessarily. Social security actually goes by the most strict definition to define "disabled."
It depends on the strictness of the definition your employer used to define you as disabled.
It is extremely difficult to be classified as disabled from SS and to receive benefits. Plus, you've got a 12 month waiting period, etc.

OK, an EMPLOYER doesn't approve disability. Their INSURANCE company can, though, for a private disability policy.

It's absolutely NOT TRUE that SSDI and private disability coverage use the same criteria. And even your private disability policy, has one set of criteria used for the first period, usually 2-3 years, then a DIFFERENT set of criteria after that.

Not necessarily, but you should apply for it. Social security makes its own determination on eligibility.
