free drinks are the best drinks

I don't know about other women but when I was younger, I was forever having men ask: "Can I buy you a drink?"
Well, I would say: "Yes" never knowing that I owed them anything. Where is it written that there are "social rules"? No one ever told me that I owe some guy conversation just because he bought me a drink.
Most of the time, this was not a problem if a man bought me and my friend a drink and we carried on talking. Sometimes men buy women drinks just to show they've noticed them.

I think maybe you should be asking: "Why do men buy women drinks then expect something in return?" THAT is rude.
Think about it, why shouldn't a woman walk away? All you've done is buy her a drink. I wouldn't buy a drink for a stranger then expect them to read my mind so why would you think by buying someone you don't know a drink that you are owed something?
What do you expect when you buy a woman a drink? You must keep in mind that people don't know what you are thinking.
Try enjoying the moment and going out and having a good time with your friends. That will attract more women than buying strangers drinks. If you're seen to be having a good time, then that is more attractive than someone buying drinks.

Not all girls do this. I have been talking to a guy in a club, let him buy me a drink and then realised he wanted something in return. This is an instant turn off, so I walk away.
If you do buy a girl a drink, don't look like you want anything but her company, and she will stay put!

You have to ask yourself why you made the excuse. If the guy is only good enough to buy you drinks and nothing else, then you have every right to walk away. As a guy, buting a drink for a pretty lass gives me no more right than to enjoy her company for a short while.

I've never, ever done this! But my boyfriend was telling me that he was reading the Metro before and there was an article about women who do this! Apparently, they just go round seeking out blokes who will buy them drinks and dinner, then do a runner at the end of the night.

Girls who do this a cheap, tacky, unintelligent idiots!

If I wasn't interested in a guy, I wouldn't take a drink from him. Some girls are selfish b*tches, out for what they can get!

Maybe because
1. We didn't think you guys were actually serious
2. Maybe that 'excuse' really isn't an excuse but a reason
3. We got suspicious of you guys somehow
4. It's such a cliched way of pick-up
5. We're more interested in the drink than the buyer

But that's just my opinion.
"Can I buy you a drink or would you rather I'd hand you the money?"

I have never accepted a drink from someone, not even when single, we are not all cheap tarts looking for a free drink! Just don't offer to buy a drink that way you will soon find out if they want to chat to you. Such a generalisation you have made there, maybe it is the type of girls you attract.

I dont think many women will just walk off - unless of course they let you buy them a drink cos your cute - then realised your dull as sh*t when your chatting waiting to be served and made a quick exit.

personally I dont let blokes I dont know buy me drinks - cos in general they are only after one thing - and they aint gonna get it !!!!

or - if the bloke is a real creap or pestering me or my mates - I'll get him to buy me and at least one mate a drink - make it the most expensive and then will walk off and make my excuses or start talking to another bloke just as he has finished ordering.! thats a classic situation to be in. he he

Most of the time guys at the club try to buy women drinks so they can get in her pants. If we take the free drinks and don't sleep with the guy then it's our way of getting revenge.

Because they can, and they get a free drink out of it.

If it bothers you, stop buying drinks for women in clubs.

If a man offers to buy a woman a drink in a bar, that's wonderful. But if he EXPECTS something in return he's going to be disappointed the majority of the time.
