After reading some responses about nursing in Church, I discovered that a majority of Christians think that breasts are dirty and evil.

All Mammals feed their young the same way. And allegedly this was designed by God. I've never seen a Christian cover a dog and her puppies in shame, so why the shame about their own mammary glands?

Where breast created by Satan, possibly after the fall? And did the baby Jesus nurse? If so, does that mean that he was not without sin, since breasts are sinful?

one hot momma, I'm not saying that about you. Yours are great. :) But please answer the question if you can. I'm trying to understand the issue surrounding breastfeeding and shame within the American Christian tradition.

Whoever reported one hot momma, I assure you it was unnecessary. I'm a big boy, and can handle being called a "moron".

Probably vestigial of the Puritan ethic that influenced a lot of early American thinking. Europeans are not as hung up. The human body is beautiful. Some people would rather think we ALL came about via immaculate conception, however. BTW, think about it: Jesus was breastfed.

Some christians are a product of there up bringing. Since the beginning, nursing was the only way to nurish a baby. Jesus was without sin...it's just the overjealous christian leaders (over many years) that have screwed up womens minds about there breasts. I think that another reason mammary glands are supposedly evil is, mom and dad don't want there daughters to 'play' around, because other peoples sons (have always) liked them so much. The evil and sinful talk about breasts is sort of like a natural fornacation control.

You see, since similac was made available to the world, there is no longer any justifiable need for using these sinful breasts. All the mothers who fed their children the old fashioned way in earlier times will be spared eternal damnation since breastfeeding was the only feasible way to nurture an infant. Now we have the blessing of being able to eliminate this ungodly act of briefly exposing our bodies in order to feed our children. We can mix a synthetic powder instead and prevent the need to endure the shame of feeding our young the natural, most healthy way. So because this option is now available, someone who insists on feeding their child the natural will surely be punished for their crimes.
(please note the heavy use of sarcasm here)

You are very confused. Breasts were not created by Satan and they are not evil. Eve had breasts, that is part of the female anatomy from the beginning. Mary nursed Jesus as did all women of her day. There is nothing sinful about that.
We keep the breasts covered in our day because God instructed Adam and Eve to cover their nakedness by making coats of skins for that purpose. The sexual attraction of breasts and genitals is to be kept private between husband and wife. It is not for public display.
As for chapter and verse, there is no such listing. The scriptures do not talk about when such details were formed, nor do they ever say anything about breasts being evil. What we know is that we are to cover our nakedness and not to have sexual relations outside of marriage. You can fill in the details. This has been the rule from the beginning.

The only thing sinful here is the load of crap you've been fed. The bible is a misogynist book. Women can never measure up to such ridiculous laws and expectations. A woman's breasts come with the rest of the package. Completely natural and beautiful. Did you know that a man can breast feed too? Does that make mens breasts sinful? Are men considered dirty little whores, too, like women are portrayed in the bible? Not to be trusted, stupid, liars, unworthy? How many more metaphors are in the bible to denigrate women? If Satan did create breasts, none of us would need implants.LMAO

Some crazies a few years back wanted clothes on all animals to hide their breasts. Japanese of both sexes bathed together till the crazy Americans invaded. African blacks didn't hide their breasts till crazy Europeans invaded their countries. American slaves started covering their breasts because Southern men and women had guilt complexes. Neither God nor Satan had any input into the matter.

Pretty deep thinking, but in all my life as a member of the Roman Catholic religion, I've never heard any mention of breasts in a shameful matter.

to answer your multiple questions in order, unknown (doesn't say anything about it in the Bible), n/a (since it doesn't say anything about it in the Bible), n/a (wrong presumption since there is no such thing as shame about mammary glands), unknown (nothing about this in the Bible), unknown (nothing mentioned about this in the Bible), n/a.
