Check on the website for the camera:
Most cameras come with some basic software.
If not you can start with the free software that you can download from Adobe at this address:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

check the box that says photoshop album starter edition.

Then plug the USB cable from the camera into your computer.
If you need more help clarify with the camera make and model.

James

The king of the hill software for what your talking about is Adobe Photoshop. There is a lighter version called Photoshop Elements. Adobe really dominates this market, all the rest of the programs out there are whanta-bes.

Microsoft has a product called Digital Image Pro, but I'd be skeptical, since MS keeps re-inventing their imaging software strategy.

Usually a digital camera comes with some basic software that will allow you to edit pictures, but nothing fancy.

My recommendation is to get Photoshop Elements. You can do all sorts of projects with it, and if you really get into it, Elements is a stepping stone to full blown Photoshop.

You didn't tell us the make and model of your camera, did it come with photo editing software? So, first: Read The Friendly Manual (RTFM) for your camera. Use the program that came with it, and click on the Help TAB for the "How-To's".

If no, try the free:
