NEVER load ammo into a gun for which you are not absolutely sure of the caliber.
Call some local gun shops and tell you you have a pistol and do not know the caliber. Bring it in, in a bag, if they let you so they can look at it. Then buy a box of ammo from the nice man for his services.

Just like everyone else said, the is a 9mm short, or 9mm Kurz in German. The Germans used this round in their STG 44 assault rifles in WWII.

Yes, the .9mm Kurtz or .9mm Corto. This round is known State side as the .380 acp. Same round.
You can buy them anywhere you buy ammo, Wal-Mart, Academy, etc.

It's probably a 9mm Kurtz (German for "short") which is also known as a .380 Auto or .380 ACP. Most sporting goods stores carry them.

It is probably 9mm Kurz, or 380 ACP, but you should have somebody who knows his business check this rather than just feeding them in and firing to see if they work. It's extraordinarily scary to contemplate that he tried feeding 9x19 cartridges into a pistol with an unknown chambering. That would go into the category of "stupid rookie trying to get himself killed."

Try a local Gander Mountain, or any local gun shop.
9mm comes in many combinatios, depending on where and who made the gun.
It might say on the side of the gun what shell it takes, such as 9x17.
