John 15:4
"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

Branches are from the vine. Without the vine the branch cannot bear fruit because it is cut off from its source of nutrients, its source of life.

The vine and branches are in the New Testament and Proverbs is in the Old Testament. Which one do you want explained?

Proverbs 31 is listing charactertics of a "good woman". One of them is that she shares generously with any handmaids (in those days slaves - in our days servants or emplyees) that she has. Today she would be someone who pays higher then normal wages.
