Here's an OK site for identifying trees. I don't know of any good ones for plants at the species levels--there are way too many species, so most online guides are regional or habitat-specific.

it particularly is humorous. Now I even have 2 Woodpecker jokes. right here is one in return: “The Woodpecker Cousins” (have faith me, I’m reducing this down lots) The St. Louis Woodpecker substitute into being visited via his Texas Woodpecker cousin. It has long been a custom that when the Woodpecker cousins have been given at the same time there substitute right into a contest that often occurred. And that substitute into that they could pass out interior the woods, locate 2 trees that have been comparable in length and project one yet another to work out which you will still %. their way with the aid of and topple their tree suitable. They pecked away and pecked away and top away at each and all of the Texas cousin pecked with the aid of his tree and alter into declared the winner. They flew back to the tree dwelling house of the St. Louis cousin, settled all the way down to 3 beverages and watch a sprint television. The Woody Woodpecker tutor substitute right into a great admired. The Texas cousin substitute into flying back to Dallas interior the morning and till now he left he invited his St. Louis cousin down for a rematch. 3 months later the St. Louis Woodpecker sent his Texas Woodpecker cousin an digital mail informing him that he substitute into on his way and the project substitute into on. So the St. Louis Woodpecker gets to Dallas. They fly off into the woods, locate 2 trees that are comparable in length and the competition starts off. After countless minutes the St. Louis Woodpecker topples his tree and is asserted the winner. And the ethical to this tale is, (you’re going to hate me for this) the ethical to this tale is: The greater removed from dwelling house you're, the greater durable your pecker gets.
