No. That is an old wives's tale. The common cold come from germs and viruses that we contact via other people, or objects with germs left on them like doorknobs, desks, etc. What that old idea may come from is the cold can affect you if you have a respiratory problem or an illness like pneumonia or something because of the cold air it can make them sicker, but going into the cold with wet hair cannot cause you to get a cold! hope this helps!

Most heat is lost through the head. While having wet hair in the cold can contribute to colds, it is not the sole cause. A hat can help keep the head warm and pretty much eliminate the slim chance your wet hair will give you a cold. Colds are viruses. Anything that weakens your body's immune system can have a chance of allowing you to catch a cold. This is pretty much an old wives' tale.

Yes, just about every morning during the winter. I actually stayed outside once as long as I could because I wanted to see if my hair froze enough, if I would be able to break off a piece like an icicle. No luck.

NO....this is an "old wives tale"...pure fiction.
GERMS make you sick....period.
People tend to get more colds, etc in the winter because they are inside with other people (and the spreading of germs) more so than in warmer months. I have heard that having wet hair in the cold can lower your resistance and you more SUSCEPTIBLE to germs that cause colds, etc...however, that may be a myth as well.

I go outside everyday every season with a wet head and I have not gotten sick because of it. You cant get a cold because its cold, but some grandma's think differently.

Hello. If you wash your hair in the winter and go directly outside.........you will definitely get ill. Your head is the first thing that loses heat. If you notice, when you wear a hat or cap in the colder months, you are able to retain some body heat. However, you can wash and go out in the warmer/hotter months and not get sick.

I don't think so, I used to wash my hair and go out in the cold weather, didn't catch cold. but I think you should drink cold water before you go out, I think that would adjust your body temperature. Works for me.
