If I'd like to lose weight, is this enough (I'm coupling it with diet of course)

As part of a weight loss routine, it's plenty. It may even be a bit too much if you are just starting out. The real answer is to try it and see how whipped you are when you're done. You should feel like you've gotten a workout, but not exhausted. If you feel like it's too much, don't be afraid to back it off to 45 minutes or even 30, _especially_ if you're just starting out.

I would suggest a heart rate monitor also. They're pretty cheap on-line. Just a basic one, you don't need the type with memory, zones, alarms, etc. What you want to achieve is a _minimum_ of 20 minutes in the aerobic, or 'fat burning' heart rate zone. The easiest way to figure this out is 220 minus your age, then take that number and target your workout to between 70 and 80 % of that number.

If you can already handle an hour of riding, you can do a ten minute warm up, 40 minutes in the aerobic zone, then ten minutes easy. If you want to mix it up, you can break the 40 minute workout into two sections, keeping your HR over 80%, with a five minute break in between.

As far as diet is concerned the key is BALANCED. Nothing special, just a balanced diet and count calories. Remeber the laws of physics - in oder to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume. If you start working out, but start eating more, you will GAIN weight, not lose it!!

one last note: the previous comment about cycling not removing belly fat is NOT true. Any aerobic excercise that targets the major muscle groups will burn off fat stores no matter where they are, this includes the belly and 'love handles'. Depending on your particular physiology, certain spots might be the last to go, most likely the love handles, but go away, they will.

Biking will not help only unless you cut meat or transfat from your food list. Avoid meat that contains lots of fat. Try more on vegi. Did you see 'Bocca Burger' at Wal-mart? It is Soy Protein (no meat) but test just like meat!

Yes 10 miles daily will help but drink 'Propel' it gas 30 cal only with vitamins.

Must do Abs workout. Lay down, Fold your knee, put your hands back of your head and crunch up!

Biking will not burn the Fat in your Abs!

P.S. I follow the same routine to lower my weight.

Actually 30 - 40 min. a day at the beginning is great. One hour? Keep up the good work.
God bless.

yes you will get good results, but I would mix it up a little. Do some shorter rides at higher speed. Do some longer more relaxed rides. Also be sure to rest twice a week to let your body recover.
