i'm not saying that He doesn't. i just want to know what the scriptural basis of this belief is, and the manner in which you believe He speaks to you.

to all other christians, what's the scriptural basis that says He DOESN'T?

to clear things up, i'm talking about stuff like this: if you go to a charismatic church, you will often hear the pastor say stuff like ''the Lord told me this and that.'' i'm not talking about tongue-speaking. i'm not talking about reading the bible. i'm not talking about people who claim to have heard a mysterious voice that comforted them. i'm talking about people who claim to have direct conversations with the Almighty. you know... kinda like the crazy irishman in 'braveheart.'

the charismatics (and maybe some pentecostals??) believe in this. charismatic christians are an offshoot of the pentecostal church (i think), for those who don't know.

Well, I cant say that I am a Charismatic, but I can say that I am a Christian, and Yes I do believe that my Lords, "talks" to me quite often. No there is not this booming voice from a cloud, but on some occasions when I have been praying about direction on an issue, he may speak to me through a particular scripture that relates directly to my issue, that I will come across in my study time. At other times I have been trying to decide a issue one way or the others, a brother or sister in Church will come up to me and say " You know you have been on my mind lately and I feel I am supposed to tell you ........" Sometimes it is very obvious. Ex. About 1 1/2 years ago, my wife said we need to talk, fearing the worse she said, I think God is wanting us to adopt a little girl,, ( that was bad enough we have 3 boys) but then she said, a little girl from China. Well I did not know what to say, I thought she was having a mid life crises, but I said I would pray and see what God Said. I started off, with " Lord if this is you, you have got to make this clear, and how are we going to pay the 18-20 thousand this would cost." With in 48 hours, we found out that we had the money, every single cent. ( I make $8.00 an hours) I did not hit the lottery, It came from everywhere, family friends, our church, everywhere, yes we had to do our part, but God paid for this within 5 days. In the same first 48 hours, I found out that a lady that I went to school with 20 years earlier, was adopting a little girl from China as well, she had moved away but was moving back into our neighborhood, so now there where going to be two little girls from china, going to the same School, riding the same bus, and to beet it all her married last name was the same as ours, so both little girls have the same last name, even though we are no relations to the other family. In a large city maybe, but our town has less than 2000 people our schools average less than 300 students each. The odds of this occurring are beyond reason. This is just one example, God speaks to his people all the time, regretfully most of the time people are too busy to listen, or just don't care.

Yes.

He spoke to me audibly one time, but I hear his still small voice every day.

1Ki 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; [but] the LORD [was] not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; [but] the LORD [was] not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; [but] the LORD [was] not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

When I first started realizing that I was hearing his voice, I realized also that I couldn't tell his voice from the voice of the flesh, so I prayed over and over again that he would show me how to recognize his voice. Today, I know his voice. Five years ago I did not.

To be a little mean to you, God talks to all through his word the Bible!

However, to address your question directly: The scriptures do say that on occasion, once / twice during a righteous person's life such communication could happen during a dream at night.

In this way, people have had (very rare) dreams that later come true. Such dreams have a special quality to them that makes a person remember them even years later.

I think that God talks to everybody at some time or other. Most of it is unrecognised as coming from God and disregarded. Other people might think it's from God but may be fooled by evil powers or their own imagination/wishful thinking. If people say they have a message from God for me I would want him to let me know himself.

It is written that as a child of God, we can come boldly before the Throne of Grace in time of need 24/7.

I pray to God in Spirit & Truth & God prays back to me. If you read the bible, you will learn that Jesus said, that His sheep know His voice. That would be also the voice of the Father & the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Also Jesus said that if we abide in Him & His Word, Jesus & His Father will talk with us. (sup with)

God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit... through His Word.

I see nothing charismatic about hearing imaginary voices. The fact that you seek a basis for the belief that an imaginary friend says imaginary things to delusional people from a work of fiction is utterly replete with irony.

I don't speak in tongues and never have. But I feel God has talked to me to guide me throughout my life.
