I answer loads more than I ask. I think my questions are boring as no-one hardly answers them.

Why should i care about other people?
Most people use yahoo to ask questions they really need an answer to. They don't come here to answer questions or to help people- but themselves.
Very few people are nice anymore because most people don't socialize anymore; everyone is confined behind a computer screen getting the blunt end of peoples personalities on sites like these and forums.
To the answer of your last question, actually there are even MORE answers than ever before withe the advent of the internet. Unfortunately all that knowledge has been tainted with misconception, lies, covered with spam, ads, and "join us now for 24.95 a month or you'll NEVER find that answer!"
This is what happens when talking on a bench in the park turns into a screen between two strangers.
(i actually wish i lived in the beginning of the 20th century)
Also, people have been using this place really inefficiently.
I have found the same question many times over.

You've been a member since Sep 2006 and have only 400 points or something like that. Apparently you've not answered many questions.
It seems rather hypocritical for you to say that you are so sorrowful over all of the unanswered questions. Why not take action? Answer some. I've only been here a few months, and I've answered far more questions than you have.
You could have helped so many people by know if you had only been doing what you are now chastising others for not doing.

Oh, dear... ;-) Little philosopher on the loose.
Anyway, I think you've made a point.
But don't judge mankind that hard. A lot of people just register here because they have one pressing query, and once that is solved they see no point in pusuing this.
of course this is not the way it should be. Then again, many are disappointed by all those fake questions posted on Y!
This is the age ob web2.0, open source and so on. This won't just be a giant bubble filled with hot air and helpfulness. Soon Y! is gonna recover, I'm very optimistic about that.

I think it would also help if they spent a little time reading some of the posted questions before they submit one that has been asked 400 times that day. Just remember it is summer and there are a lot of younger people on here with way too much time on their hands and a lack of good judgement.

I have never asked a question. I read so many that are silly that I feel that mine would be lost in the sea of polls. :D
I think that the questions are going by so fast that many are not being answered because most people just check the questions on the first questions page. I know I am guilty of this many times. I don't think the lack of answers is a sign of apathy or selfishness.
I hope you get lots of answers :)

Maybe you are taking this a bit too seriously. I don't answer questions that I am not interested in or have no knowledge of. Your heart is full of sorrow on this? Really, you need to get out more. Why is this in R & S anyway? Sign out and go get some fresh air. I think it would do you good.

I feel reversed. There seems to be no real questions to answer. They are all the same (with few exceptions) just pointless attacks against others and no one really seems curious. I see some questions now and find myself wondering if it's a serious question or not. I think if the ones who just want to pointlessly attack would leave then the curious ones would 'come out to play'. I'm here to learn about other people’s beliefs but find it difficult to get serious questions or to find positive (not necessarily ones that agree with me but ones that don't attack me for asking) answers.

I think its usually just about the time of day. I noticed if I ask a question at 3 or 4(toward the end of peoples work and there bored)it gets a lot of answers, but like 5-530(commute home) i cant even get 1 answer

As a top contributor I take issue with your statement, I have answered over seven thousand questions and asked all of eight. So, kindly do not paint all people here with the same brush.

I think it's just a matter if age and experience. It seems like the majority of people on here are in their young teens; most of them feel like they have nothing to contribute.
I haven't asked a single question yet, though, and I may not at all. I *like* answering. ^^ I'm very opinionated.
