I live close to a reservation. We used to be the Indians, but then, the Native Americans decided to take offense and we changed the mascot to a Hawk. Even though I'm white, technically I'm Native American. I was, afterall, born here so I'm a native. I guess as time went on, the term 'indian' was not proper. Gotta roll with the changes I guess.

My school mascot was a Bruin. We were the Beddingfield High School Bruins in Wilson, NC. I was Class of 1982.

We joked that our mascot was a ferry, because our school was named after a guy whose parents owned a tugboat company.
But our mascot was really a falcon.

In college we were the Fighting Bishops. Our mascot looked like popeye on crack...
