No, go for it. The truth is that most people at bridal shops will ask for your story while you are trying on dresses, so you can slip in there somewhere that your ring is being sized. I had the same situation...except my now husband lived in a different state and had an independant jeweler make it, so when it had to get sized, I couldn't get it until I came back to his state...so I just went to a store (JC Penney I think?) and bought one of those $10 fake diamond rings...it kept the questions at a minimum and made me feel a little more secure...like people weren't judging me. Good luck.

Are you concerned because you think that the sales lady may think you are not really engaged? As in Muriel's Wedding?
Dont worry about it! Go and have a blast, not having your ring wont matter at all. Just remember that if you choose a dress with gold or silver embroidery, you will want to get the embroidery that matches your ring. Like if you have a platinum ring you would want to get the silver embroidery and not the gold, that would be the only instance where your ring would come into play.
Best of luck!

Not lame at all! With or without a ring you are still engaged. Many people don't get engagement rings till later on in their married life - so no worries. I would go shopping and enjoy yourself! You are still a Bride and deserve to have fun with all the planning and shopping. Good luck finding a dress!

Okay let me tell you, im getting married this saturday, and my engagement ring is practically glued to my finger! I never ever take it off! Well i took it to the jewlers about 2 weeks ago to have it sent out to get cleaned along with my wedding band. Well when i got them back.. they were absolutely beautiful!! They looked brand new as if never worn! So... what im getting at is, i stopped wearing my ring until i get married this weekend. I got my dress, i will be getting my nails and hair done, and everything else done without my ring on. No one needs to know, and if they ask, i simply just tell them i dont want to get my ring dirty before the special day!! So dont ruin your plans! You could midd out on finding a great dress! No one needs to see your ring, those people at the dress shop see rings every day of their lives... just go out and do your thing!! and Congrats and Good Luck!!

Are you referring to your engagement ring? I don't see any reason not too. I mean, you shouldnt build ur dress around ur ring so rings dont matter. I have gone to many bridal dress places and seen ppl without an engagement ring so I dont see where there would be a problem. Plus, as we all know, in this world, they aren't going to turn down ur money just because you dont have a ring on. :)

What does your ring have to do with getting a wedding dress? You are still getting married, are you not? You arent marrying your ring, and your ring isnt going to tell you whether or not your dress is the one, so let your ring get sized, relax... and by the time you pick out a dress, your ring will be ready.
Congratulations :)

Just because you dont have a ring on your finger doesnt mean that you cant shop for a dress... I have never heard of such a thing.. you should shop for a dress b/c you are looking for a dress.. Not having the ring on your finger doesnt make you less engaged... Material items is all they are.. Your and his love is what makes you engaged. Not a piece of metal.

Not everyone gets a ring for their engagement. I know someone that got a motorcycle for her engagement. Obviously, she couldn't wear that into the bridal shop. Who cares what people think and go get a dress.

You don't need your ring to shop. It is very common for brides to shop and make plans while their ring is being sized, cleaned, etc. You are no less engaged just because the ring is not on your hand.
