I am not a computor geek,,how do I update definitions?

I was told to go to programs options page..then up date definitions..how do I get there?

Definitions for what program?

If this is for an antivirus program open the program there should be an UPDATE somewhere inside the menus.

Otherwise Windows and most other updates should be automatic, and updates to virus software should be set to automatic also.

Most program and the Windows OS update themselves automatically. No need for human intervention.
