Solitude plays a significant role in my life: when I am alone, this is my time to praise God, pray and -- most importantly -- listen to Him speak to me. I know for a fact that God speaks to an open heart through Scripture; through divine enlightenment; and through a human voice heard with the ear. (Of course, He speaks in other ways, but the ones I've listed are what we can experience during a time of solitude.) Combining fasting with solitude will also draw a person closer to God, who tells us at Isaiah 58 what should (and should not) be our motivating factor when taking this approach. God promises at verse 9a that "Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ " What an incredible promise!

Christians believe that, in order for God to communicate with us during a time of solitude, we must "empty ourselves out," (putting aside our own desires and selfish wants) so God can fill us with His Spirit.

I also study extra-Scriptural materials when I am alone, since this permits me to concentrate on what I'm reading.

Solitude plays an important role, I like to be alone sometimes when it I can leave the busy world behind, go for walks in the woods, sit by a river or a lake, to be still and listen, I can really become in tune with my environment and feel closer to God. To meditate and feel peace, to absorb the natural flow of energy that our natural world provides, it keeps me grounded by allowing me to soar.

Solitude is how I recharge. I spend so much energy giving to my husband, children, relatives, and work, that I treasure time when I am alone. I go out to lunch alone sometimes with a book and it helps me get through the day. In the evenings when weather permits I love to go for a solitary walk - it really relaxes me. I always feel peaceful when alone and always feel refreshed afterwards.

pretty much the only role... born alone, grew up alone, alone in high school, i'm alone now i imagine i'm gonna be alone for a long time too.

To give you an idea, i had no father growing up and my mother was neglectful and abusive. I wouldn't even say she raised me either, i spent the first 10 years in babysitters who were also neglectful but i never look for sympathy.

I've never had any real friends that actually accepted me either (i was the only artist in my school and I just didn't 'fit' in with anyone) and girls...well, Ive had one relationship but it was just based on infatuation so it was garbage from the start. Every other girl i've met since then has just... caused me grief and sometimes severe depression.

It's complicated to explain but take my word for it.

I pretty much hate the world.

I have no solitude. I sometimes wish I did, but on those extremely rare occasions when I am on my own, I miss my husband and kids. But even those times, I still have my pets.

A time of quietness where I can be free from distractions and really meditate on God's word. It's becoming a scarce commodity.

I love being alone. Just sitting and thinking. I love sitting outside and just watching. People, animals, water, the sky. It is such a simple wonder.
