No, not usually. You find those on turkeys when you do.
A meat thermometer is inexpensive in the kitchen gadgets section and you'll probably even find it in the supermarket. Inserted in the thickest part of the breast and not touching bone, it is a reliable way to ensure it cooks well. The gauge reads out the temp necessary for different meats, including chicken which I belive is 180.
Usually a whole fryer will cook in 50 minutes on 350, if you stuff it about 1hr 15 min.
I wouldn't trust a pop-up timer. I use it but will also check it with the meat thermometer.

No--because fryers are meant to be cut into portions and fried. A pop up would be a hazard in this case.
Companies like Purdue put them in whole roasting chickens, tho and or course, turkeys.

No, because they are to be cut up and used for frying- not roasting.
Those pop-up timers are generally wrong anyway- meat can be over or under done with one of those things.
If you want to roast a fryer (which works perfectly well) just invest in a meat thermometer- then you'll never have to rely on pop up timers! :)
